Are these overlays in meleu's rpie-art.sh script?
https://github.com/meleu/rpie-art -
@backstander, they are not yet. When I will have a little bit more time I will look how to add them. I will tell you as soon as they will be. Thank you for your patience.
-
Here is the new set of the week. As every time, they can be downloaded from here or from my git repository.
As @backstander requested, I will look soon if it is possible to add the collection to @meleu's rpie-art.sh script. The three overlays are common. For Armored Car, I just wanted to try to do my own. For Ghosts'n Goblins and Ghouls'n Ghosts, I have used the best source material I was able to find. I hope the result is good enougth to make you forget the others versions. So here are the overlays:
Armored Car:
Ghosts'n Goblins:
Ghouls'n Ghosts:
I am still working on new small things, so stay tuned.
-
@nono6493 you're very welcome to use rpie-art to provide an easy access to your art. Check the "How can I make the script able to install my custom art?" part of the README file and you'll see it's very simple.
Nice images, by the way! :)

That's time to publish my new set of overlays. I try to keep a weekly rythm, but this time it was not easy. No time to work on them so I have done easy and very basic. So here are 3 new overlays from Sega games. I will do better next time.
Oh, I do not forget @meleu's script. I will try to do everything inside the repository to make it compatible as soon as possible.
Alien Storm
Shinobi
Shadow Dancer
Now, I go back to my works on some new ones. See you soon.
-
Sorry for the late delivery, but some of those overlays took me more time than expected. As usual, they are downloadable here, in the github repository and ... ... no, not now, sorry.
So this week, an old shoot'em up set with Cosmic Guerilla, Devil Zone and one of my favorites : Gyruss.
Devil Zone:
Cosmic Guerilla:
Gyruss:
Now, you knows what I will do next week ? Not me. So stay tuned.

Could they create this? One of my favorite games of all time
-
@ande-rocha I like this game too. I have played on Amiga when I was young, and I have played to Badlands and Super Sprint on Arcade too. I think I will not do an overlay from scratch because it would be too long and I have already a long list to do. But if I can find some good material to start with, probably I will do something.
-
@nono6493 amazing overlay collection so far. I noticed that some of the .zip.cfg files are missing, will they be created eventually? I can probably create them myself, I'm just not sure how to adjust overlay_opacity and overlay_scale. I'm not even sure I have to adjust them at all. Thank you
-
@Brigane You're right and I am now working on it. I am reorganizing the repository to integrate it in the @meleu rpie-art script. I'm adding all the missing required files including the .zip.cfg files and renaming most directories. That's more work than what I was expecting, but I hope I will finish that this week.
-
I am still working on rpie-art script integration. 25% done. Waiting that, here are some new overlays that you can still download directly or from the github repository. This week only classical games:
Alpine Ski:
APB - All Points Bulletins:
Altered Beast:
Golden Axe:
Next week, If I can finish it, I will post one of the bezels I like the more. So stay tuned.
-
This is a new overlay for Cheeky Mouse from Universal. It's one of my favorites, but it will be the only one for this week. Too much work.
I am still working on rpie-art integration. I am renaming every directories, many files and creating the "info.txt" files required for the script. I am late, but the work is still progressing.Cheeky Mouse:
I hope more next week, so stay tuned.
-
I am happy to deliver 3 new overlays on the theme of circus and funfair. As usual, you can download them from here, or from my github repository.
But that's not all. My repository is now ready to be included in the @meleu rpie-art script. All the required files are now present in the right folders for my "personal overlays" that you can see above. The remaining work will be done fast now. But meanwhile, here are the new overlays.
Circus Charlie (from the original work by Krakerman):
Clowns:
Mr Do's Wild Ride:
I think I can go back to work now. So stay tuned.
-
@nono6493 Great work as always. I can't wait to get my hands on these from meleu's rpie-art script.
-
the @nono6493's repo is now available in rpie-art script.
Just launch the script, select
Update rpie-art script.
and his repo will be available on the list. For a fresh install:
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/meleu/rpie-art cd rpie-art ./rpie-art.sh
And to "install" the
rpie-art
script on the emulationstation's RetroPie menu:./rpie-art.sh --install
(TBH I didn't even remember that feature, but it works! :P )
Cheers!

I encounter that the text (game instructions) gets quite blurry and mostly unreadable in most cases when using the overlays, can I do anything about that?
-
@Brigane, I have tried with the only two overlays that were not already in my personal retropie setup : Mr Do's Wild Ride and Circus Charlie. The first one worked fine, but unexpectedly the config file of the second one was not the same as the one expected. It was "trucated". I will investigate on that. Perhaps an issue in the file in my repository.
Concerning the "blurry" effect that you are talking about, it makes me think about a resolution problem. Those overlays are created for a 1920x1080 pixels screen. If your screen has a different resolution, retroarch will try to interpolate the missing pixels. This can create the "blurry effect". Can you confirm the resolution of your screen and the name of the games with which you have the problems ?
For me, once my config file completed for Circus Charlie, the overlay was exactly shown exactly as expected. The instructions were perfecly readable.
-
@nono6493 I fixed the problem. Apparently I was using an older Retroarch version which made the overlays blurry and poor in quality.

Hello
Can you briefly explain how enable an overlay in Retropie (recent version)?
Thanks, bye
