Why are the protective papers still on the stickers on the photos? I want to see the stickers! πŸ˜„

About the (plexi?)glass cover – I don't like those and I don't understand why so many people are using them. They make most cabinets look like semipermeable mirrors in anything but a dark room, and even then you may see some remaining light sources behind you. That said, I don't understand why people buy laptops with "glossy" reflective screens either. *shrug*

Just some feedback from my own perspective. Of course, you may design your cab however you like. 😌

Maybe that’s not protective paper, just glare from reflections. 😜

I haven't decided if that is how they're going to be sticked so i haven't done it yet (i'm very sloppy, too)

About the glass i totally agree with you, but my brother wanted it that way so that's how it is

                      I think is finished
                      What do you think?

What else could you use instead? I ordered anti reflective plexi glas for my cabinet but still especially on the painted area there are visible reflections if light is coming from behind. I think anti reflective glass like for high quality picture frames could be a litte bit better. But mostly the anti reflective layer also has some disadvantage due to weird color impressions at certain angles.

Well, I used nothing elseβ„’ instead, since you don't put any (plexi) glass in front of your computer monitor or TV either (*). And I don't think it makes any difference if you have to clean your monitor or an additional glass pane from time to time. See my DIY Asteroids cabinet for pictures (as you can see, I also prefer dull surfaces on it overall).

(*) Except for Apple. A friend of mine removed the reflective glass cover from his iMac, because it caused double reflections in interplay with the equally reflective screen behind it. πŸ˜’

Since the dawn of time, monitors and TVs are already sufficiently protected from normal everyday dirt and damage ex factory. I don't see the need to put them behind yet another protective layer in all but the most hazardous environments. Although many original arcade cabinets had them, this exeption is understandable since they were placed in public places.

As for anti-reflective glass, I prefer its remaining blurred reflection to the strong, clear one of reflective glass. All of the picture frames in my home have anti-reflective glass covers, for example.

I have grand kids that play with my arcade cabinet and they love to stick their fingers out and point at the screen (usually by ramming their finger into the tv) and say "OOOH! Look!!!" Plastic/plexiglass covers stop that.

Where I have mine located there's no reflection on the screen. You don't notice it's there unless the system is completely off.

Growing older is mandatory. Growing up is optional!
                            Enjoy the ride!

I have experienced the exact same whenever kids are playing my cabinet :-)

Yes the same for me... as soon as the display is on no reflections. Even if therd is some daylight, maybe because i always am so close and i am blocking the light myself...

@ClassicGMR @robertvb83 Okay, I can accept kids as "most hazardous environments". πŸ˜‰

edit: Hm … maybe a slightly electrified wire mesh instead of the glass … but I digress. 😈
