splashscreen video freezes for a second when booting to kodi

Hi all,
ive just changed my setup to boot to kodi and i get a annoying issue.
my setup is a pi3b, original 4.4 image from this site and all upto date.i have followed the wiki for hiding all text etc and the splashscreen video plays perfect when having my pi boot directly into emulationstation.
but having it boot to kodi causes the video to black screen for approx 1-2 seconds then it carries on playing and eventually im into kodi, nothing major but annoying lol.
i thought ok ill change it to a jpeg splash to solve it, but that doesnt work becuase at the point it usually stops video playback for a second, when using a still image it goes off to the text console showing the autologin then it will go to kodi 17.6 splashscreen.
is there anyway to stop this or have i just got to live with it.
