Uninstall broke Ubuntu
-
So i uninstalled though the setup script and no i DID NOT tell it to remove all dependencies ..
But it did anyway..sudo dhclient worked to get me back on the system, Thanx BuZz
reinstalling retro-pie does not reinstall the dependencies either (just errors out)
does anyone have any info on what was removed.
Using Ubuntu 16.04 -
I can confirm there is an issue with the uninstall and am looking into it.
-
there is an issue removing kodi in that it removes dependencies for kodi which seems to be causing a problem. I think that's the only issue (which can remove network-manager). Did you have that package installed ?
-
You can check
/var/log/dpkg.log
to see what's been added/removed.oh btw -
Thanx BuZz
Bit unfair / unreasonable imho - especially if you want help. I assume you are being sarcastic anyway...Aha sorry. You were actually thanking me from my post on the other thread. Though you were blaming me for the breakage personally :-)
-
@BuZz Yes kodi was installed (outside of retropie)
-
@XXDILBERTXX Then I don't know what triggered the issue as the only problem I found was with kodi removing policykit-1 if installed via retropie-setup which could remove gnome-network-manager.
I will need a log of the uninstall from RetroPie-Setup/logs to be able to advise further.
-
@BuZz And yes i was very much thanking you.. and again Thanks (have a lot of other servers n time on that system)
and Sorry no logs i deleted all the retropie folders already..It did mess with the policykit because i could not even mount a USB (forget the exact error but was policy related)
Currently doing a upgrade to 18 LTS... think that should get what im missing if not at least i know what direction to look..
-
@XXDILBERTXX I apologise for accusing you of sarcasm. I misunderstood the reference to the other thread. Thanks. I adjusted my post above when I realised I had made a mistake. My bad.
install gnome-network-manager and I think that will solve the networking issue you had.
-
Update: Solved!
After the dist-upgrade all packages we installed but still needed to run "sudo dhclient" to get networking..
I then removed policykit-1 and reinstalled network-manager
and that did the trick!
