Thanks for any help I can get. From everything I read and searched, is it really true that lr-imame4all does not save hi scores, does not use samples, and does not save nvram??? I got a few Williams games that won't boot, Berzerk with no sound, and a few of my favorites like Moon Patrol that won't save hi scores.

      Thanks for your help.

        @challenger2010

Maybe a fix in future releases or did it happen to get fixed with 3.7?

        Thanks

          nope, not supported. see: https://github.com/libretro/mame2000-libretro/issues/13

probably not difficult to fix, but since mame2003 supports this stuff, why not just use that?

Does support samples, but not the other things as mentioned by @dankcushions

I will have to try it out. I am trying to get this working in my Moon Patrol cab and lr-imame4all is the only version so far that actually stretches the image horizontally to fit my screen. Maybe 2003 has those options, but the regular Mame4all does not.

                Thanks:)

I think the current version of mame2003 doesn't have the stretched image problem in that gameafter a fix @BuZz suggested, but i can confirm that later.

interestingly, apparently i started (finished?) allowing the nvram, etc saves for mame2000 (lr-imame4all) - https://github.com/dankcushions/mame2000-libretro - i'll check that later and see what's left to do!

That would be awesome for what I am doing. I will keep trying to learn my way around 2003 and 2010 for now :). Thanks!

just tried mpatrol and the image isn't stretch horizontally. it should be a 4:3 image like:

                      alt text

                      however it's more like

                      alt text

not really sure why that is, although you could fix it by playing with custom game configs and aspect ratios.

Thanks, yes it is more square than 4:3. I am just struggling to learn how the video options work. When I load any game with 2010, it goes right to the retroarch.cfg menu, it doesn't save my changes and then the game won't start. Right now 2003 and 2010 are stuck with a 4:5 display and I can't figure out where to change it

i can't speak for mame 2010 but mame2003 had a recent change which sorted out some aspect ratio issues. if you don't have 3.7, you should update lr-mame2003 from binary via the Retropie-setup menu > install individual emualtors.

Thanks, where is the best place to change the settings? I have all my roms in the arcade folder and then I pick 2003 for the emulator. But it seems as though I can't change any settings. Thanks

That helped a ton! Thanks! Another random question, what would cause my screen to start bright and them immediately switch to a dimmer state?

                                Thanks

Ok! I got everything running great! Mame2003 is the best option. Last question, are hi scores an option? Where do I put the Hiscore.dat file? Thanks for a ton of help!!

Great wiki, just wondering, do you think it is worth putting in an extra piece regarding specific game configs, because as a second option instead of using the GUI you can create your own config in a readable format and just save the file as romname.zip.cfg in the same directory as your roms, and then it automatically gets picked up when the rom loads.

I did this with mine because a few of my roms required the same mapping change, and it was easier to duplicate the file over and over and rename accordingly rather than using the GUI.

@movisman i don't like rebinding via retroarch per-game configs, as it messes up all your hotkey combos. eg select + L for load save state, etc, would be select + something else, if you changed what button was L. the way to do it properly via retroarch would be via core input remapping, but that has to be built into the emulator, and it is not in mame2003 (and hard to do!)

in any case, instructions on how to do per game retroarch configs is not mame specific, or mame2003 specific, and is already in the wiki :)
