Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
Power Supply used: Pi original power supply
RetroPie Version Used:4.4
Built From:retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi
3 downloaded from site, burned on SD withEtcher
USB Devices connected: generic usb gamepad
Controller used: steelseries usb gamepad
Error messages received: no error, TV just loses signal. Pi keeps running(can SSH into it for example)
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log:
when updated from source https://pastebin.com/brQsD0fH
when updated from binaries https://pastebin.com/Kp6ghCJs
Emulator:lr-pcsx-rearmed
So the situation is - I just bought Raspberry Pi 3 B+. Decided to try RetroPie right away. Downloaded image, burned it with Etcher, just as getting started guide says.
Then I tried to play PSX games - namely Blazing Dragons. At first it would just not run, I googled for a while, figured that I forgot about BIOS, so I downloadedscph1001.bin
one, and thenscph101.bin
, cause neither one worked.
I tried updating emulator. Building from source failed withlibertro.so not found
or whatever.
Googled a bit more, found that it is caused by code version mismatch, or something like that.
I tried updating retropie viaRetroPie Setup -> Update
, and after that tried to build emulator again - succeeded!! But now, when I start the game, it just shutdowns. I tried updating it from binaries - same effect. (logs attached).
Other emulators (tried snes and gba) work.
../psx/retroarch.cfg
includesall/retroarch.cfg
../all/retroarch.cfg
hassystem_directory
set
BIOS file is in/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS

There is no obvious error in the logs, but there's something weird - the resolution appears as 720 x 480. Since you say the TV loses the signal, I'm guessing it might not support this weird resolution.

Did you choose any specific video mode for the PS1 system from the Runcommand launch menu ?

yeah , while I was tinkering around I chose
NTSC 16x9
, and left it like that, cause I didn't think it really mattered -
@zoilorys
I think those are composite videomodes for the analog or scart output. Selecting a CEA or DMT or just removing the videomode setting in runcommand should work.I didn't notice the resolution before I read the rest of this thread. Good observation.

@Efriim that was it - thanks a lot!!! I just cleared selected mode
