Pi3 B+
Version 4.4.12Downloaded the BIOS, from several sources, placed in BIOS file as instructed.
Added .cue and .bin files into psx ROM folder.
Files show in folder and are visible in emulation station.
When select to load, screen goes black, then back to PS menu.
No error message.
Other posts suggest bad ROMs, but tried multiple sources.Any ideas please? Many thanks.

@burtommatthew Is the BIOS named correctly as per the docs?
-
@burtommatthew can you try to launch the game with verbosity enabled and provide the verbose log in pastebin? otherwise it will be hard to debug.
-
I had the same problem few days ago.
I solved this by updating the emulator (lr-pcsx_rearmed) by Source in RetroPie Menu.
Try this and check if the problem is gone.
Saludos from Spain.

@rbaker Yes, BIOS correct - thanks
@hhromic Apologies I don't know how to do this - this may help with further issue (see below please)
@Loquo I updated retropie while scraping some images, and it seems to have resolved itself. However, now I'm having the same issue with N64!!!!! ES picked up N64 icon, games are there, seem to load and back to menu with no error.I've updated lr-mupen64 from source etc.
This has to be something I'm doing wrong?!

@burtommatthew good you sorted the psx issue by updating.
When you launch any game from EmulationStation, you might have noticed that there is a dialog box telling you what game is going to be launched. The program responsible for that is called runcommand. If you press any button while this dialog is active, you will have access to a launch menu.
When you launch a game that uses a libretro core emulator (any
lr-*
emulator such aslr-pcsx-rearmed
), in that menu you will see a "Launch with verbose output" option (I don't recall the exact label but is similar to that). Use that option and your game will be tried to be launched in verbose mode. After your game fails, and you are returned to EmulationStation, you will be able to find a log file in
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
that you should provide here for better helping you. This file might be long, so you shoud use pastebin as indicated before. To access the file, you can use WinSCP for example.Good Luck!
