Pass is almost identical to Susumi Mile Smile (also released as Go Go Mile Smile).
Ultra Balloon is almost identical to Bubble Bobble.

@GtBFilms Go Go Mile Smile is a fun game.

This is an excellent selection, hard to choose one.

        Ultra Balloon

Not generally that keen on cutesy platformers, but this one was fun and the music was pretty good.

        Sen-Know

Another genre I'm not keen on, this one seemed decent enough, but didn't really hold my attention.

        Gunlock

I had high expectations of this one from the YouTube video, but it runs very slowly on my rpi3 under lr-mame2003. I got it running at a decent speed with advmame-0.94 though, and it's an interesting take on the usual gameplay. While the enemy are far away you seem to be able to 'mark' them for missiles. Once they are closer, you have to use your conventional guns. Wasn't as good as I expected from the video though, and there was some odd graphical glitching on the big asteroids, may have been an advmame thing.

        Ninja Clowns

I guess this is what happens when someone takes a Simpsons Arcade machine (1991) and makes their own version with all the licensed characters taken out! It plays pretty much identically to the Simpsons machine, which is not necessarily a bad thing (apart from the fact the end of level bosses are just designed to soak up credits). There's a lot of potential in this one, for comedy weapon pick-ups, and it doesn't disappoint - I got a boxing glove on a spring and some sort of fart spray early on. The graphics are okay but not as polished as they perhaps could be, not quite matching the zany clown antics as they should, in my opinion.

        Pass

This is oneof these peculiarly odd Japanese games that I quite like. In this one it seems you have a sort of pacman with an incredibly long blue tongue. Instead of venturing into the maze, you stick your tongue in to collect the pills, winding it round the maze, but remembering to pull it back in quickly to avoid the enemy. Quite bizarre.

All of the games this time are reasonable, but against my initial reaction, my vote goes to....

        Ultra Balloon!

Right now it's too close to call. If you haven't already, please submit your vote and I'll check back around Noon Eastern (US) and post the results.

Press down and the Penguin can fart. I don't saw this in Bubble Booble :)

By the way ... this is just level 4, so it's very easy to beat the this score (I hope so!)

Not entirely sure what I am doing when I meet the level 6 boss!

It works well on the latest AdvMame 3.4/3.5, I believe. It's a reasonably fine game in its own right. And you can then get the sequels on the PSX if you're into those.

                                  Aw, sorry about that!

We've been down to Blackpool for the annual Retro Gaming Expo, and I only got a bit of time to try this when we got back!

Unfortunately I didn't get much chance to play anything, as I was accompanied by my 5 year old son for the first time, and he was more interested in the merchandise in the trade hall - picking up a Golden Mario and a bunch of Star Wars figures.

They always have a stand-up Star Wars machine there, which is my favourite one - I have great nostalgic memories of playing that in wet October holidays on our annual trip to visit my grandparents.

Apparently they also had the sit-down version of the Star Wars cab this year, but I didn't see it.

I think the vector graphics still look pretty good and haven't really aged as much as some of the other technology around at the time.

They had quite a few sit-down cabs this time actually, which was new, and a bunch of Candy cabs as well.

My favourite one to see, if perhaps not to play, was an ancient old Video Pinball one they had a couple of years back.
