I went with Contra on this, but it wasn't an easy choice... Great lineup this time!

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

@AndersHP I agree, although I'm going to play the games I like regardless of voting outcome.

Personally I dig Strikers 1945 III by Psikyo. 1942 by Capcom is just so slow in comparison. I know they're different franchises made at different times for different audiences, but I still find 1942 slow. (Since we're putting Arcade and MAME in the same sentence...I'd even recommend Capcom's 1944: The Loop Master which Arcade1Up is bringing back into the limelight.)

1942 is a more classic game though and fondly remembered (even though it does sound shrill).

@obsidianspider excellent game - my friend Ian Cullen has the actual board and is ranked 8th in the world according to TwinGalaxies!

You'll be pleased to hear that none of his skills have transferred to me though, I'm still absolutely rubbish at 1942!

I'll give it a try though.

@GtBFilms I never could get good at 1942 either, but can clear 1943 on one play.

                      Awesome!
@obsidianspider please remember to carry over some of these great games to other ROW's.

                      Now for some shmup action!
I always like to hear if people run these in mame2003 or fbalpha?

@AndersHP are there any noticeable difference between the two emulators with this particular game?

I've run it through fbneo. Seems to work fine.

I guess i will run on any MAME-Version or FBAlpha/-Neo as it is from the early 80s and therefore does not need much performance.

Only issue that i have with AdvanceMame is the lack of highsocre-saving.
AdvanceMame only supports "Revision A", which seems to be not supoorted by highscore.dat.

@AndersHP I try LR-MAME versions first , FBA/NEO second, and AdvMAME third. But that's just me.

                                @Brigane I don't know, I'm using lr-fbneo also.

What's the deal with the whistle-tune in the beginning of this game?
Is it some kind of WW2 reference, that I don't get? :)

@AndersHP I didn't even realize it was a song. Just kept wondering what the annoying chirping sound was. Hahaha

After a lot of practice - I don't play a lot of shmups - I got a lucky break and reached the Marshall Islands. Previous hiscore was the 3rd (I used 1 save state for #2, so that doesn't count).

I tried to improve the score, but didn't get further than stage 5, this time with 154490 as hiscore.
