Flycast and Reicast not emulating Capcom Vs SNK 2 correctly for character select screen

Has anyone else tried to play Capcom vs SNK 2 with Flycast or Reicast and have the player select screen come up like this? Single player seems to work. Only for versus and training, the select screen has all the player icons as blank.

Check if you have a correct image for the game, I don't have this problem with a validated GDI image for this game (screenshot is from Reicast):

@mitu which version of the game do you have? I’m running the Japanese version.

@pieguy123 Works fine here too. I tried flycast. I'm using the japanese version but it's also a .gdi.
If you're using a 3rd party image, then that's your problem.

@Darksavior I have a cdi image. I found a gdi file but it came with bin files. Do I just throw all the files into the Dreamcast rom directory or do I need to make some sort of combined file? The bin files have the data as the gdi file is very small.

@pieguy123 I used to create a folder for each gdi game. Nowadays I convert them to a single chd file which also makes the game smaller.

I’ve also burned the image onto a CD and used it on my Dreamcast and it didn’t exhibit the issues.
