I haven't got the pie 4 yet. But i hear something about a power issue with third part adapters a wile ago. Official adapters work good i hear. Any news of a fix in a later batch, reason i am waiting a bit? But wanted something with a power switch. I got those flurk case ready for it, i hear good things about.
I am wondering if there is any news on when retropi will be officially released for the pi4. Another reason why im waiting on the pi4. The other pie's seemed to get retro pie faster. it's been out for many months now. I am no programmer thou.
Still using the p3b and it's still plays games fine with a slight overclock. Just want a upgrade for more powerful emulators or games.

There's no ETA for a PI 4 compatible image and yes, the other Pi models had a much faster release since they had similar hardware - the new model is a totally different system.

It only has issues with expensive e-marked USB adapters. In other words MacBook and fancy laptop adapters. So for most people it's non-issue.

The problem is pizz poor documentation from Broadcom ...... They give us a new graphics core and then keep all the main details secrets so everyone has to basically figure it out from scratch for themselves ...... These are suppose to be Open Source devices but but the GPU is about as Closed Source Proprietary as it gets

Frankly I think it's time for the Foundation to ditch Broadcom if they are going to act like this ......

Not really, Broadcom has published the documentation for the VideoCore IV GPU (present in the Pi Zero - 3) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_and_open-source_graphics_device_driver#Broadcom - and also hired E. Anholt to develop the open source driver for the VideoCore VI (included on the Pi4).

Frankly I think it's time for the Foundation to ditch Broadcom if they are going to act like this ......

What vendor do you suggest they choose for their SoC ?
