A lot of broken links on RetroPie docs pages - but Github wiki is fine
-
Hi all,
I just wanted to bring to your attention an issue I found with the docs site at https://retropie.org.uk/docs/ - it seems a lot of the links to pages within the same domain are broken.
For example:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/All of the following links in this page are broken:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/Manual-Installation
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/SSH
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/Updating-RetroPie
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/Wifi
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/FAQ#why-cant-i-ssh-as-root-anymoreHowever, taking 'First-Installation' out of the target URL fixes it.
The same goes for all the other pages on the docs area which link to URLs within the same domain, so there is something strange going on with the way the pages link to each other. It's almost as if the way the relative links have been generated is incorrect, as it is always adding an additional path into the target URL which matches the page you are on, thus breaking the link (see above).
The github wiki however, is absolutely fine.
I am not sure of how the connection works between the two (github wiki/docs) - not sure if there is a script which generates / mirrors the Github wiki across to the RetroPie docs or if there is a manual process, but I just wanted to flag this up as an issue.
Thanks a lot

@movisman I think this was reported last week and I've fixed the links since - how do you get to the broken links - starting from https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/ ?

Hiya,
As an example, on the https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/ page you mention, any link on the page which links to a URL on the same domain appears to be broken.
The first one is on this text a couple of paragraphs in:
This page is for people just getting started on RetroPie. The easiest way to install RetroPie is the SD image which is a ready to go system built upon top of the Raspbian OS - this is the method described in the following guide. Alternatively, advanced users can install RetroPie manually.
In this case the link on 'manually' is broken.
The same goes for all other links on that page which introduce that additional path into the URL. Same on all other pages.
Does that help clarify?
Cheers

Seems so, thanks for reporting. We'll fix those, last week's report was about the TOC links, but I didn't check the rest of them.

No problem at all. Yep TOC is fine, it's just the links within the pages which are broken.
Thanks a lot.
