Pi4B RetroPie on Buster
-
Hi all,
New to Pi, got my media server all set up but wanted to add RetroPie for some nostalgic gaming. I understand that Pi4 isn't supported yet officially, but wanted help troubleshooting through this by the communitypi@raspberrypi:~/RetroPie-Setup$ sudo git fetch && git checkout fkms_rpi4
fatal: Unable to create '/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/.git/index.lock': Permission deniedI tried to figure out who owned the file with
pi@raspberrypi:~/RetroPie-Setup$ sudo ls -la /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/.git/index.lock
ls: cannot access '/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/.git/index.lock': No such file or directoryI can't seem figure out where i mistepped.
I'm using this walkthrough

Thanks in advance!

@screwedupsmitty walkthrough is outdated. Fkms branch is more or less synced with master now
-
I figured it was something like that. Thanks!

The instructions on that site are also incorrect, as cloning the repository via
sudo
will set the wrong user permissions, which will cause problems with subsequent unprivileged operations.Delete the folder:
sudo rm -r $HOME/RetroPie-Setup
Start again using the clone command outlined in the manual install instructions without any changes, as the
fkms_rpi4
branch is now obsolete. -
Awesome! Thanks! I wrongly assumed that because it wasn't officially supported yet the manual process wouldn't apply for some reason.
