Not a world record, but a small improvement. The game is hard as hell and I am not in top form.
Info, which probably nobody cares: Btw, funny I misspelled my initials. Didn't realize the v was a u, which also directly follows it in alphabetical. I missed the option to go back to correct it, which some games have.

      Score: 29200

That's a good score, considering I cannot get past 22500. The game is difficult, but it's interesting - the music is nice and the graphics too. Reminds me of Blazing Lasers a bit.

@mitu Yes, I like the overall game feeling and the weapons mechanic gives it a little bit of a twist. You really need to spam a lot with charging and always move around.

If my ankle wasn't broken right now and my arcade stuff inaccessible I'd post some screens.

@IanDaemon Ouch, Get well soon! At least you heart isn't broken. :-) If you like, you can play and post later, if the next games aren't interesting to you. I need to go back to some of the entries too, as I wasn't active (here, not in general) for a while.

@thelostsoul Now that I got my controller mount rebuilt I need to go back to digging up the old games and necroposting again. LOL

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

@VictimRLSH LOL I looked up what "necroposting" means and this is the definition I found:

Posting to something on the internet for the first time in quite a few months or years. Usually n00bs do this, but sometimes a pro will do it to make people laugh.

I saw some of your postings, where you dig into older games. Should start doing this too, so people have a good laugh.
Edit: The only "problem" with this approach I see here is, that the current game will have less focus and go down in the list. What about pinning the current weeks played main game?

That sounds like a good idea, you'll get more votes and participation that way.

You could pin/unpin instead of posting "MAME ROW # is now live!" and it wouldn't necessarily create more work on your part,

@IanDaemon At least the "is now live!" post have the benefit of getting a notification, so people don't just forget to check, especially with 2 weeks cycle.

My best score so far is 31600 (sorry for the screenshot quality). This game needs a lot of practice.

@mitu Nice one! There is a lot of enemy spam and the bullets are quite fast. Are you also constantly switching the weapons and do charge shot? My hats off, I don't know if I will make it so far again.

@thelostsoul Not switching much. For the beginning, I use the spread gun (Wide), then, midway though the 1st busy tunnel at the beginning, I switch to the laster gun once I get the 3rd upgrade and your shot gets 3 rays.
What gets me is the next stage at the tunnel exit, when you have to face the 3-spread-bullet ships and the bigger ship that shoots the bullet storm.

If you've upgraded your laser gun during the previous section, you can take the bigger ship and snipe the smaller ones, but the moments when you have to dance between the bullet storms is what gets me. You can practice using save states, but - as I said - it takes some practice, at least for a shmup beginner like me.

@mitu If you practice using save states be sure and keep repeating the trouble area even when you succeed until you can do it every time. That is how I got good at Donpachi.
