      Hm, then it's not a cable issue. Try adding to the config.txt file:

      hdmi_pixel_freq_limit=200000000

      and see if this improves the connection ?

        So, i did it.

        • First boot was normal. I was able to see the logo , the progress of loading and the final screen. No blinks.
        • After shutting it down it booted with Blinking. TV was coming off and on every 2-3 seconds. Finally booted up. Another thing i noticed is that SSH was slow and one time unresponsive.Putty threw "Connection time out".
        • Another reboot and SSH seems normal now

        Things changed with this setting but still unreliable.. What does it do?

          It just filters out the 4k video modes. Do you have any other peripherals connected ? Have you tried another HDMI port of your TV ?

            A logitech F310 and a wireless keyboard Logitech K400. I tried with other ports.

            I have another PI4 with Libreelec which runs normal, tested in that port also , same behavior.

            It must be something with TV compatibility cause Libre elec once did that blinking and i just put it in defaults 1080p and run smooth without any problem.

              That would have been useful to mention in the first post. Try to force 1080p in your config.txt as the default resolution.

                I have done it so using hdmi_group=1 and hdmi_mode=16 which has no effect....

                I am downloading now on a separate card a fresh rasbian to test it directly on the TV for initial setup to see what happens....

                  That's a good test, though the RetroPie image is basically a Raspbian Lite image with added software, so I wouldn't be surprised if the result would be the same.

                  But hdmi_group shouldn't be 1 instead of 0 if you want to force 1080p ? hdmi_group=16 is not valid otherwise - see https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/video.md.

                    Just booted up in fresh rasbian and it does the same. See the vid.

                    tv blinking

                    I guess i will have to move to raspberry forums...

                        Try again adding to your config.txt:

                        hdmi_group=1
                        hdmi_mode=16

                        to force 1080p.

                        This is what i had all along. That's what i wrote also, maybe it wasn't clear

                                  Just to keep you in the loop. The problem had a simple fix.

                                  I called my wife with her nail cutter tool.

                                  She trimmed the official cable plug and know the cable sits tightly on the PI4.

                                  The case panel did not allow for the cable to fit 100% in the socket.

                                  In any case i learned a lot at least :)

                                    I'd say so myself.
