SOLVED: rpi4/retropie weekly build scummvm vs lr-scummvm slow graphics
-
Hi all,
While building a Rpi4/Retropie build in a C= Plus 4 case I installed the weekly build of the Rpi4/RetroPie build. As already known, most emu's run quite good.
I noticed however that ScummVM, both the binary or a fresher master GitHub source compile/install run games quite slow. While troubleshooting I also installed lr-scummvm ... much to my suprise, lr-scummvm runs without graphic slowdowns.
The question is, is it possible to compile scummvm against the new graphic layer of the RPI4/Retropie build, since this seem to be the problem?
Best,
Marc!

If you're running ScummVM on your PI4, the emulator is already using the 'new graphic layer'. What game(s) are you trying out ?

@mitu For example, Full Throttle, DOTT, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight 1, 2, Voyeur, they suffer from stuttering graphics.

It's probably the sdl2 vsync issue. Check if there's a vsync option in scummvm. But note rpi4 is still in development - we are not even really ready for bug reports yet.

I reinstalled Scummvm (compiled from source: master) with the automatic sdl2 update:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/commit/7c74cff0cf47306f8bdec2c4bb1c6af221a5fbb6
with vsync fix ... all seems good know. Thanks for the quick change ...
