lr-vice (C64) - i can't switch disks (m3u of fliplist not working for me)
-
i cannot figure out how to switch to another disk in lr-vice (RetroPie 4.2 built from pre-made SD Image on RetroPie website running on a Pi Zero W).
the one game i am interested in playing is Accolade Comics, which the copy i have is comprised of six .d64 images (i couldn't find another format of this game anywhere, like .d81 or .crt). i have these six files in this directory:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/c64/Accolade Comics_disks
comicd1a.d64 comicd1b.d64 comicd2a.d64 comicd2b.d64 comicd3a.d64 comicd3b.d64
i launch the comicd1a.d64 file from emulation station, and it loads in lr-vice just fine - i have lr-vice configured to my controller and i'm able to play through the game up until it asks me to insert side b. i've searched this forum and online, and tried two methods i saw mentioned to switch disks, neither of which is working:
- m3u file (per https://github.com/libretro/vice-libretro)
the lr-vice documentation linked above suggests using a m3u file. i created an m3u file with only this contents:
comicd1a.d64 comicd1b.d64 comicd2a.d64 comicd2b.d64 comicd3a.d64 comicd3b.d64
and saved it in the same directory as the .d64 files:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/c64/Accolade Comics_disks/comicd.m3u
i press select+x to get into the retroarch menu, navigate to Disk Control, and the problem is that the only number i can get to show in the Disk Index is 1, so i can't select any other disk this way. is there something wrong with my m3u file contents or placement?
- fliplist (via the lr-vice GUI)
another method i've seen mentioned is to use the fliplist through the lr-vice GUI. i press start to access the lr-vice GUI, click to check "Attach to Fliplist", click in the DF8 field and navigate to the side b file (comicd1b.d64 in this case) - when i select Resume, i'm brought back to the c64 basic screen and nothing happens (it just sits there with a blinking cursor at the READY prompt). isn't it supposed to load the selected .d64 automatically? i tried typing LOAD"*",8,1 with the lr-vice onscreen keyboard, but after pressing Enter it prompted me to press play on the tape drive or something.
thanks in advance for any suggestions!

ha, i just figured it out - in the Disk Control option in the retroarch menu (select+x), if i select Disk Cycle Tray Status it ejects the current disk, then i select Disk Image Append and i can select the .d64 file for the next disk! it appears the .m3u functionality isn't needed (or doesn't work anyway).
