Hello I have the latest Advance mame installed on my retropie.
      The Retropie version is 4.5.1
The sound is working correctly for all the games except the one with samples (DKONG, DKONG JR)
I have the mame 106 roms installed with the samples that comes with it.
I put the samples in another folder
      bios/mame-advmame/samples
and I change the config in the advancemame.rc

But the samples for DKONG and DKONG JR are not working. And I tried different version of samples

Here is the relevant config in advancemame.rc:
      device_alsa_device default
      device_alsa_mixer channel
      device_sdl_samples 512
      device_sound sdl
      dir_sample /home/pi/RetroPie/bios/mame-advmame/samples

But whatever I do the sample sound in dkong is not working (DKONG Bump and Mario Jump)
Is there a way to see if the samples has been correctly loaded when we start a game.
I check on the runcommand, but I didnt see anything relevant
      any help with that

I had the same issue with "Zaxxon" using AdvanceMame.
After Hours of tinkering i got it working by enabling "Demo Sounds" in the DIP-Switch-Menu of that Game.
No idea how samples are connected to the enabled DemoSounds in Attract-Mode of the PCB, but it works till now and was the only way to get the samples playing.

Its not a case sensitive path is it? My directories have it as BIOS all caps. Just wondering why you put the samples in the BIOS dir. You can hide a directory from showing up in the roms list by adding a period (.samples). I think.

@wstanek Linux is case sensitive, so you should be using the proper casing when configuring the paths.

That's the file share name, not the folder name as seen by the Pi.
