Retropie completely locking up (requiring hard reboot) when attempting to switch from disk 2 to disk 1 in multidisk games.
-
@quicksilver No spare SD card unfortunately.
I already have the card imaged from when I rewrote the image, so everything's backed up.
What's the plan here.
- download stock image.
- Install six axis drivers
- install sky scanner.
- move across config files.
- see if it's still broke
Or should I do this differently?
-
OK, this is working! However this is NOT the 1.8.4 version. The version being reported in the bottom of the quick menu is "1.7.6 - PCSX ReARMed R22 cadb995"
The disc swap notification is completely different as well!@mitu can you give me commands for downgrading to this version and I'll move back to my original image and see if this version work? Cheers for your help.

Sure, but humor me and first try an upgrade just for RetroArch to the latest version - you'll need to upgrade the RetroPie Setup script first. You can save the previous version by backing up the
/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch
. -
I don't mind helping to figure out what's wrong with this.
Now, I did update this only.. 2 days ago. Has there been commits that change the change disk behavior since then?
Testing it now.EDIT: I updated from source, is this what you wanted?
EDIT2: This is taking far too long to update from source, I'm going to have to try the binaries.
-
@mitu
Updated from Binary (from source was taking forever) and it's still the same. Trying to switch back to disc 1 in MGS instantly hangs the system. -
i had the exact same problem has you ever since i updated the retropie script. have you tried to update the kernel? i did it and it worked fine after with final fantasy 9. you update the kernal in the retropie setup because its supposed to downgrade the kernal because of issues
-
Does running update do this? I'm sure whch is the kernel option?
-
@AssCabbage yes in the retropie setup. update the script first then update everything including the kernal.
-
I did try this already, but I'm failing to downgrade RetroArch to the same version that comes in the prebuilt image and make it work, so I'll give it a go.
-
@AssCabbage connected to the wifi? im using the raspberry pi 3b+ because im only using it for ps1 emulation so this was the only time i encountered a problem since the update
-
@xXRiseEmpireXx Yup
-
what method are you using for roms internal or usb. becasue i recommend if all else fails just use binary only. then update the retropie script to 4.5.20 thats mine right now. then update it should say something like update underlying os kernal say yes then update every emulator. but idk whats going on if your isnt working
-
@xXRiseEmpireXx The roms are internal.
-
what method did you use to install retropie? manual(Raspbain) or img. i always used manual. because so i can download my roms without a need of a pc
-
@AssCabbage did it work after?
-
Nope. Heading to bed now. Hoping in the morning @mitu has the hash to let me downgrade to the base image and see if that fixes it :/
-
@AssCabbage ok hope everything goes ok. later

I've posted in the other topic that. I'd be interested to also see your configuration files:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
/opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg
- any
opt
files from/home/pi/.config/retroarch/config/PCSX-ReARMed/
for the game that locks up RetroArch.
If the file is too large, use pastebin.com. Thank you.

OK, I've discovered something else.
If I manage to change the disc without it hanging, when I go to quit the game, the system hangs and I can't get back to the RetroPie menu.I took a log from this: https://pastebin.com/KmDL51hM
Has anyone any ideas at all? This is disastrous. Do I just start again and build a fresh image? I only made this card this week.
I have the same problem. When i try to exit from a PS1 game the system hangs. It's something that does not happen all the time.
I am cheking for system updates very often, i start to have the above problem the last 2 weeks. i will try to reproduce it and catch some logs.

Can you post your config files - as I asked @AssCabbage in my previous reply ? Use pastebin.com for large files.
