N64 emulation problems and other problems
-
Yesterday I were trying to play mario 64 on retropie on my raspberry pi 3b+. So I sellected the console sellected the mario 64 rom and the screen dims. Next the "emulator launching" window popped up, I waited a bit, The window dissapeared and sent me back to the rom selection menu. Any help? Thanks in advance.
Also when I updated retropie to the latest version from the prebuilt image I downloaded I had to "log in" or something. I turned on the raspberry and it did its normal thing but the it said "retropie login:" and i didn't know what to do *i didn't set up any login or password.....maybe the system set it up itself....no". So i just reverted back to the prebuilt image. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Please add more details about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
The login issue can be solved by re-configuring the auto-login from
raspi-config
or RetroPie setup - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#why-emulationstation-doesnt-start-automatically-after-an-update. -
As I said I have a Raspberry pi 3 model b+, The image i'm pretty sure is something around 4.5 I think, if it's needed i bought my pi from the waveshare website and it came with a AC adapter that outputs DC5V, the USB devices conected are mostly my USB controller and a flash drive I use to tranfer roms, the USB controller is a basic plastation-like controller from the firm "Trust", I didn't really recieve any error messages but I'll check error log directory in the files, the files that i had problems with were in the directrory: /retropie/roms/n64, the emulator associated with the problem is "mupen64plus" probably in "retroarch". I will send attachments of the error logs and config files ASAP.

Unfortunattely I could not find any error logs but i did find my config files, but don't know how to send them here.
-
@radudek332 Well, the config files may be the standard ones, so they might not be of any help, but you can post their contents on pastebin.com and provide the link.
The emulator's log file should be in
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
, that would be more helpful if you can get it and upload it to pastebin.com. -
I'll try to find them. Also is it possible to find them using my regular pc or do i need to find them in the OS files through my raspi?
-
@radudek332 The log file it's not directly accessible from the PC, but you can copy it into your ROMs folder from the command line or via SSH
cp /dev/shm/runcommand.log $HOME/RetroPie/roms
Then, you can just browse the ROMs folder from your PC and get the file.

Are your roms zipped? I may be wrong, but I don't think Mupen likes zipped games
-
@Dinierto Thanks i didnt think that zipped roms could mess up. Thanks for the help. Same could be happening with ps1 roms
-
Thanks to both of you for the help I'll see if it works later and tell you. Thanks
-
It worked but mario 64 still didn't launch. I guess it was because the raspi is too weak but i understand that. Well at least paper mario, mario party 1,2 & 3 worked so thats nice.

@radudek332 if the other games are loading but not Mario 64, you either have a bad rom or you should try a different core. I think Mupen64-next is the best
