RetroPie Version Used: 4.4

Error messages received: Could not install package(s): (package name)!

If you used the RetroPie provided image, you don't need to perform a basic installation - RetroPie is already installed.
But returning to your error - is your Pi connected to the network and does it have internet access, to be able to download the necessary packages ?
-
@mitu I'm connected to the network. Do I need to use VPN in my area to download?

No, there's no need to for that. Is the internet working from your Pi ? Can you try a simple
ping google.com
from the terminal ?
-
@mitu PING google.com (8.7.198.46) 56(84) bytes of data.

That's not saying much - do you get a reply back ? Is the connection working ? Can you install a simple package via
apt get
?
