failed to add service - already in use?

Hi,

I tried installing RetroPie 4.6 on Raspbian. I had been running an older, cobbled together version of RetroPie until now.

I went through the manual installations steps. Now when I type emulationstation into the terminal, I get "failed to add service - already in use?"

What other information do I need to provide to get some help with this issue?

see if emulationstation --debug gives you any more information

@mooray are you trying to run it from the desktop? You need to exit back to the terminal to use RetroPie. Or use our premade image.
