One thing I noticed in the pre-built image versus an install on Rasbian lite via the setup script is the video modes populated in the runcommand menu. On the pre-built image the default video modes are CEA and DMT, whereas the default video modes on my stock Raspbian lite follow some other number format (eg. [49-21]).

Is there a way to have the video modes on my install-from-script build look identical to the list in a pre-built image? Not a huge issue, but I'm trying to automate a populated list within videomodes.cfg for multiple N64 ROMS, and this would make it much easier.

The pre-built images and the manual install have the same code, there's nothing different between them. You didn't mention what Pi model(s) are you using on the 2 systems and if they're identical. The Pi4 has a different way to display the available video modes than the other models, because of the difference in video drivers (KMS vs legacy drivers).

Ah, my apologies, you are absolutely right. I was using the pre-built image on a Pi3 and the manual install on a Pi4. Once I flashed an SD card with the pre-built image for the Pi4 and booted that up I saw the same video options. Thanks for the insight!
