neo geo pocket help needed

@Unknown my understanding is unfortunately a bio file isn't legal no as it contains intellectual property that was designed by the developers of the system at the time. But in the case of the Neo Geo Pocket, I don't think they sell the roms through a legal channel that I'm aware of.
-
@retropieuser555 Actually I pulled those roms off an unofficial retro pie image so it wouldn't be traced to me.
-
Is there an emulator that does not need a BIOS file for neo geo pocket?
-
@Unknown Did you read any of the docs? lr-beetle-ngp doesn't need one.

Where is this package located? I can't seem to find it in experimental.

Because it's not in there. It should be already installed, it's a main package.
-
@mitu Thanks for clarification, but why aren't my neogeo pocket roms visible?
-
@Unknown Do the ROM files have the right extension, as described in https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Neo-Geo-Pocket/ ?
-
@mitu They are in the correct folder , and they are ".bin" files. I haven't messed with any retropie configuration, so I'm not sure what is wrong.

Well, I did install some NDS emulators from the experimental, but I kept them at default settings.
-
@Unknown You really need to click on those doc links and read on.
-
@Unknown It is in the docs... the docs show that .bin is not valid.
.7z
.ngp
.zipare readable formats for NGP and NGPC files. Also I don't believe you can just zip up your bins and expect them to work.
-
@mitu @ClassicGMR Changing ".bin" to ".ngp" fixed the problem. Thank you, I apologize for not checking to see I my roms were named correctly .

Glad you got it working. Just remember, when in doubt, RTFM almost always fixes the issue. :)
-
@mitu Will zipping up these files disable them? I want to save memory space.
-
@Unknown It will not disable them, the emulator can read both zip and 7z compressed files. If you have scraped the games already you could run into a problem with emulationstation looking for whatever-your-game-is-named.ngp instead of whatever-your-game-is-named.zip (or .7z) which can be solved by rescraping or editing the gamelist.xml for neo geo pocket.
[edit: realized I worded the first sentence very poorly...]
