config file per rom modification
-
Hi guys, setting up my Raspy3 + retropie, I've assigned to a ROM a specific emulator (different then default emulator for arcade category) via loading screen menu . Problem is when I start the rom it fades to black and immediately go back to game selection. I guess I've chosen wrong emulator, but now I can't access loading screen emulator, so I imagine there's a config file somewhere I can edit ( instead of reflashing it).
Can you tell me what I can do to fix this, please? Only option I see is to reflash retropie, but i think there is a smarter way to approach the problem. -
Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Emulator not starting for an arcade ROM (and not only) means the ROM is not correct for that arcade emulator. Arcade emulators have different ROMset versions, so not any ROM will work. Because of this kind of incompatibilities are often encountered by users, there's a guide for arcade emulation that explaines how it works - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/.

USB Devices connected: USB stick for roms + wifi keyboard dongle
Controller used: PS3 bluethoot
Error messages received: no error message
Verbose log (if relevant): not relevant
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide) not used
File: arcade/outrunners
Emulator: (Name of emulator - if applicable) advmance0.94 , FBANEO, lr-mame2003plus
How to replicate the problem: default emulator set to lr-mame2003plus, by lunch menu set FBANEO, when running againt it reverts to rom list without prompting for emulatorI'll check the guide. I guess there's an incompatibility with the rom, but if I can't access the menu because it immediately fades to black how can I reset the association between FBANEO and outrunners rom? Thank you!

This doesn't look like a standard RetroPie image. The issue might show up because of a different configuration or modified
runcommand
I'll check the guide. I guess there's an incompatibility with the rom, but if I can't access the menu because it immediately fades to black how can I reset the association between FBANEO and outrunners rom? Thank you!
You'll have to ask the author of the image, I don't know how they configured it. In a stock RetroPie, the association is kept in
/opt/retropie/configs/all/emulators.cfg

@mitu Thank you, I'll check that path first and then I'll check on the image producer.
