CUSTOM COLLECTION BUG OR WHAT?

The problem has been discussed a few times here, but with incorrect or non-resolving answers.
when you create a custom list ... using the retropie themes ... for example PACMAN collection ... you are given the possibility to insert the games, going to the various lists / systems by pressing Y.
at the end of the menu the custom list closes and at the next reboot of emulationstation you will have the various games chosen in the PAC MAN Custom list ....

obviously you can create one with your favorite name ... it doesn't change ...

however this list cannot be modified since on retropie emul.station there is no ADD or DEL function .... on the single titles ...

So, we just have to edit some files manually ...
HERE IS THE PROBLEM ... because this custom list is on:
home / pi / RetroPie / configs / all / emulationstation / collections

example: I take a ready-made custom theme ... PACMAN .... and I inserted 3 mame games: bombjack, alibaba and 1943, at the end I tell emul.station that I'm done and he creates the custom file. (restart emul.station)

inside the collections folder (shown above) now I will find a file:

custom-pacman.cfg

opening it with texteditor will look like this:

/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/1943.zip
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/alibabazip
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/bombjack.zip

and ofcourse retropie show all those 3 games and all work fine...like you select on MAME menu...

So...and if I ADD another games manualy? pengo e pacman.... texteditor:

/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/1943.zip
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/alibabazip
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/bombjack.zip
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/pacman.zip
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/arcade/pengo.zip

save... restart EMUL.STATION.....and..... games show only 1 PENGO the last one on list.

I try 100 times all the combinations , structure of cfg file... no way... IF you touch this file, never work again!!!

I try again with a custom list, create in emul.station...I add 20 games from mame....save...exit...
and on custom list was all the 20 games working... I take the custom-xxx.cfg file on my HHD , backup
I try to change again the file/list to add games....nothing to do... emul.station not read the file again.

SO I take the backup, with the 20 games in list...no touch...I put again inside retropiu....restart....
nothing to do....emul.station read only the last game on list...so only 1)....

NOW the problem are 2.....
BUG...and can't resolved...
OR you can't open and edit this .cfg file with texteditor and save with this, beacuse something is incompatible with emul.station/retropie...

I read in another topic here, that you can edit this file for add. games or delete....FALSE , THIS NOT WORK!!!

any one have found a solution or just know why you can't edit this easy cfg.file ????

What are you using to edit the cfg files? I'm using notepad++ and haven't had any issues updating custom collections.

HI, notepad.exe (win) I try also wordpad.exe no differents.

I also open with HEX program 2 files cfg same game add... one working, and one add with notepad (no working)... no bytes differents...

Can you confirm that the "editor" can be the problem and resolved with notepad +?

I WILL TRY...

incredible but with notepad++ , the cfg file edit , now work fine!

I spend hours to try a solution...i was sure, the little notepad of windows was not the problem. crazy...
