-
Hello i tried to follow the post guide to the best of my ability so im sorry if im missing info and i am very new to the retro pie scene i have ZERO knowledge on anything this involves i had purchased a 1UP piboy xl as a fun gadget to take on trips and i have never used anything like this before so i apologize for any ignorance
Problem: black screen with occasional sound when trying to play amiga gamesPi Model or other hardware: 3 B+
Power Supply used: not quite sure if this is what this means but its a 10000MAH battery
RetroPie Version Used 4.4
Built From: Pre made SD Image (prebuilt 1up piboy xl updated to retropie 4.4)
USB Devices connected: none
Controller used: vitality [mega_mozg] Naidentsev 1UP-Joy2 (built in controller)
Error messages received: none just a black screen
Verbose log (if relevant): im sorry i dont know what this is
Guide used: none
File: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/amiga (all roms ive tried produce the same result)
Emulator: i assume amiberry but im not 100% sure (will be 100% happy to make sure if someone could guide me on how to check)
Attachment of config files: (im very new to this so if i could be directed to EXACTLY which files are needed i will be more than happy to place them here)
How to replicate the problem:
i just start up any amiga game and i get the amiga loading screen that says push "a" after that all i get is a black screen sometimes i get the games music as well but can never go any further its also to note that a small cursor appears in the top left of the screen but cannot be interacted with with the built in joypad i have not tested to see if plugging in a mouse can move it.
i have checked the kickstart files and they SEEM to be in order as well as the roms being in LHA format -

We don't support 3rd party images - like the one distributed with your system.
Note that some of the emulators included in RetroPie (and the RetroPie's image) have non-commercial licenses and distributing them with such a pre-built device is against their license. Not to mention the unlicensed games included with said device. If you'd like to get support here in the forums, use the RetroPie image from retropie.org.uk/download and we'll be able to help you troubleshoot any issue you might have using it.

are there any instructions you can give me to do this but still keep my games and emulators? its not quite worth losing all that i have just to fix one emulator, or are there any resources you can give my to find help on the topic? i just want this emulator to work like the rest im trying to just enjoy my device.

You can back-up your ROMs by transferring them over file shares from the Pi and then copy them over on the new installation - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Transferring-Roms/.

@TheMaguffin one cause of black screen on Amiberry is file permissions, you may need to chmod 777 the roms and bios folder.

I actually managed to have a sort of fix to the issue
if i switch the settings in the amiga emulator after starting the game from windowed to full screen and then hit reset it ends up working
not sure why this is and if there is a way to just get them to play that would be nice but i guess they sort of work now
