msx with retropie
-
Hi
I have retropie and I want to install msx roms but I want the machine to be Al Alamiah AX 170 .how can I do it ? -
What software are you trying to run, specific to that MSX model ?
-
Thank you for your reply
I want to use bluemsx -
That's not what I asked - what software are you trying to run on that MSX model ?
I don't thinklr-blueMSX
allows the selection of an Al Alamiah machine, the only models I see it supports - via Core options - are listed here.On the other hand, OpenMSX can emulate that model successfully, if you have the right BIOS ROM files.
-
Thank you
Can you explain the way with photos I don’t know a lot about Retropie pi -
Here's a small rundown on how to emulate this particular machine.
- install OpenMSX from RetroPie-Setup - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/#manage-packages.
- modify the
emulators.cfg
file from\\retropie\configs\msx
and add a line at the end of the fileopenmsx-ax170 = "/opt/retropie/emulators/openmsx/bin/openmsx -machine Al_Alamiah_AX170 %ROM%"
- copy the required BIOS ROMs to
/home/pi/.openmsx/share/systemroms
. The Al Alamiah AX 170 model needs 2 ROM files: - copy/transfer your ROM to the
msx
rom folder, then start it from EmulationStation. Use the Runcommand launch menu to chooseopenmsx-ax170
as the emulator for the ROM, so the right machine type (Al Alamiah AX170) is emulated for that ROM.

thank you very much but where can i find /home/pi/.openmsx/share/systemroms i haven't seen anything on BIOS folder
-
The
/home/pi/.openmsx
is a hidden folder, you need to toggle the Show Hidden Files on in WinSCP to see it - see https://winscp.net/eng/docs/ui_pref_panels. -
Thank you very much
