Last night I updated the retropie and since then 5-10 seconds after starting AM it crashes. By ssh I can kill attract and run it again but the same thing happens.

I have tried to compile everything again sfml-pi, ffmpeg and attract with the same result.

      pi@retropie:~ $ attract
      Attract-Mode v2.6.1 (Linux, SFML 2.4.2 +FontConfig +GLES +SWF +7z +Curl)
      avcodec 58.101.100 / avformat 58.51.101 / swscale 5.8.100 / avutil 56.58.100 / swresample 3.8.100

      Config: /opt/retropie/configs/all/attractmode/attract.cfg

      *** Initializing display: 'RetroPie'
       - Loaded master romlist 'RetroPie' in 3 ms (30 entries kept, 0 discarded)
       - Constructed 2 filters in 1 ms (60 comparisons)

If I run attract by ssh with the controller connected (sf30 pro 8bitdo) I get this, neither if it is normal or not. AM had never failed me.

      pi@retropie:~ $ attract

It works perfectly for me before updating, could it be a driver issue? Did I change something?
Testing .. when connecting the remote is when it locks, either the sf30 pro or a wireless keyboard. With Emulationstation it fails the same.

While I make a copy of the sd 256 gb full of roms ... I am installing in a sd 16 gb retropie 4.6 to see where the fault is. I don't understand the bug .. I'm not new to linux. It is my main system, I use Archlinux.

Is everything already focused on the rpi4?

@snock said in Attractmode start failed:

You mean EmulationStation is crashing also, just like AttractMode ?

          I use Archlinux.

As far as I know, RetroPie is not supported on Archlinux - is this your installation system or is it installed on another system ?

Is everything already focused on the rpi4?

The Pi4 is just one of the supported platforms.

Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Try running AttractMode with attract --loglevel debug and post the log on pastebin.com.

@mitu By saying that I use Archlinux, it was to say that I understand how it works. In the end I found the "xpad driver" bug. I could already see myself doing a new installation.

The only thing that doesn't work for me is when I run .sh to run retroarch, generate favorites ... from ssh yes. But it is a lesser evil that will have a solution.

My next system with retropie will already be a minipc with ryzen. That although I have all the consoles, I love to emulate.
