A few weeks ago I purchased a fully assembled 1up PiBoy XL from China with Raspberry 3B. It's a little beast but I haven't yet found out how to get most out of it, especially concerning the video settings. I was quite surprised when playing for example a very simple game like super mario land on the gameboy-emulator, noticing that the video picture didn't run smooth but somehow was lagging/stuttering (like lazy pixels who don't run exactly syncronized). I've already spent hours experimenting with the video settings on emulationstation but haven't yet found out which settings are responsible for the best video outcome.

And the audio experience (bult-in dual speakers) is pretty bad (total lack of low tones), much worse than on the original Gameboy back in the 90ies (which wasn't that bad). Are there settings for some better acoustic outcome?

Does anybody among you have experiences with the 1up PiBoy XL, which you might share with me?

      Thanks a lot!!

We don't support 3rd party images, especially the ones loaded with ROMs. Ask the vendor for support or use the image from http://retropie.org.uk/download.
