@johnodon update to latest fbneo from sources, i did a mistake while trying to fix a bug a few days ago and fixed it yesterday

Crap. I was going to try that before posting but my version was only 3 days old. Fixed now.

BTW...assume choplift is still broken and we need to use one of the other 2, correct?

I updated my core yesterday (first time in a while) and noticed that jojoba will no longer load. Seems that a recent DAT update is looking for:

          jojoba_euro_.29f400.u2" size="524288" crc="63cc8800

          6d8b322c-f408-41bb-9eaf-eb7ff069951a-image.png

The file from the validated set is 'japan' (not 'euro'). MAME 224 also has the 'japan' file. Was this change by design?

Anyway, having trouble locating a source file that contains the correct CRC. Not asking for a link...only asking if it is out in the wilds. :)

          John

The change follows MAME change : https://github.com/mamedev/mame/commit/ba113f167cf4e08efe92f164f3b2fec9cb6d5c3f#diff-b7295a09783ff0178e3add3fe5cb5b84
It was done after MAME 0.224 release and will be part of 0.225. Yes, the file is out in the wilds :).

I'm not 100% sure why euro is now the parent rom, but here is my guess :

            1. parent roms are usually the most recent version of the game (because of possible bug fixes), and euro version was probably released after japan version
            2. then why japan instead of usa previously ? i'm even less sure about that one, but it might be something about usa version generally having some form of censorship ?

Edit : oh, actually i just noticed jojoba doesn't have an usa version

@barbudreadmon: congrats for v1.0.0.0!! Awesome work, very much appreciated!
Just a question: has "DoDonPachi II: Bee Storm (World v1.02)" been updated? I does not run anymore after updating FBNeo yesterday from source. I guess i need a newer dump of this romset?

@sirhenrythe5th does it not say the reason via a verbose log?

in any case, as per FBA, every release is synced to current MAME romset, AFAIK.

@dankcushions you are right in both cases, the verbose log tells me about missing/wrong roms and the FBNeo-Dev-Team changes to current MAME-Roms as soon as they get available.

I just had a look and it seems that "ddp2.zip" wasn´t changed / redumped within the current MAME 0.226, so i guess it was changed allready in one the previous updates (last time i played it was in August of this year). Barbudreadmon allready pointed me in the right direction with "DoDonPachi III", so i hope he has a hint here once again ;)

@sirhenrythe5th does it matter when it was changed? just get the one from current MAME and you're sorted :)

I just installed Stretch on 3B+ fresh, and that comes with FBAlpha. Is that the "best" core of choice these days or should I be looking for FBAlpha2018? Looking for max compatibility and performance as usual.

well, stretch has been superseded by buster for about a year and a half, and fbalpha has been superseded by neo for even longer. for a pi3B+ i don't think there's any real benefit for using older versions of FBA/raspbian.

It's spam, copied from https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/19741/goodbye-fbalpha-welcome-fbneo/30 (last year). Would have looked really weird if you had removed that backup though :).

Also forgot to mention that the following games were added in late december :

Added support for more arcade hardware using that tms34010 cpu from midway games :

                                            • Cheese Chase
                                            • Stone Ball
                                            • Ultimate Tennis

@roslof you might want to follow this topic for compatibility list updates : FBNeo is probably a better choice than mame2016 for the NBA hangtime games if that one got no sound (are you sure it's not an issue with sound being too low in service menu ?).
