Yup, good old Aussie Internet is about as bad as it gets. And our whole national NBN project is a farce. It's only going to get worse :)

@herb_fargus Ah, maybe thats it, I do have a half decent internet connection here.
Although I thought the images were direct from github, at least when I go to
        https://retropie.org.uk/download/

I am shown 2 links in the red boxes for the images, both from Github.
        https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/releases/download/4.0.2/retropie-4.0.2-rpi1_zero.img.gz
        https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/releases/download/4.0.2/retropie-4.0.2-rpi2_rpi3.img.gz

I guess if there were a torrent available it would need to be marked in a way that shows it is official, as opposed to containing potentially malicious software or copyright roms. Maybe if an admin created it and linked to on the website etc..

Please read the Docs before asking a new question.

If it was only linked here with no tracker it should be clean. Anything would be better than the trash floating around on Facebook. Those knuckleheads swap 64gb images around every time there is an update!

Thats so annoying - I'm not on Facebook, but dont they have an option to report pages that refer to copyright material?

@Floob I think it is only in the case of directly linked materials hosted on Facebook. There are plenty of pages and groups hosting links to encrypted mega downloads.

The "RetroPie" group has full images being swapped openly (the group is private, but anyone can join).

I actually was on the group for a bit and helped people out, but the constant open distributing of images full of copyrighted games annoyed me so I left.

                  It's a shame.

It's very hard to get stuff removed from facebook / ebay / amazon etc.

I reported an Amazon product recently, and they just keep sending me a generic email asking for more information, even though I have provided loads of detail. Ebay requires lots of paperwork to be filled out - and if you don't have a registered trademark etc, you have little hope.

                    It's a losing battle (It's already lost).

Just don't be surprised if one day RetroPie ceases to be worked on because a copyright holder with lots of money decides to come after the project (because they have seen the name associated with people selling their games).

I think people will always try and make money out the scene, but I don't see anyone coming after this site or the project directly as it's not condoned here and unrelated to this group's modus operandi. I mean if we are really being pedantic, then the SVG logos used in the Carbon theme and any other theme hold copyrights and shouldn't be packaged together with the image.

Now if we take this into consideration and media is allowed, then the other extreme of having an image that contains synced media, xmls and configs to popular dumps like No-Intro or TOSEC sets would simply be releasing a media pack that falls under the same scope as the SVG logos currently used.

Where FB groups fail is in pushing this threshold from simple media packs, to paid products that include roms that don't fall under the preservation act and are still copyrighted.

The emulation scene has always walked on this fine line and when there is a need for access to entertainment, then people will always try to make money out of those with less time or knowledge.

Buzz, can't you add a disclaimer on the loading screen of RetroPie? The author of the Wii Homebrew Channel did it, this program basically allowed you to run homebrew on the Wii so which means you also could load ISO Wii game rips. At every startup it says:

"**This software must not be sold, neither alone nor as part of a bundle.

If you paid for this software or recieved it as a part of a bundle following payment,
you have been scammed and should demand your money back immediately.

                        For further details see:
                        LINK TO WEBSITE**"

Are you talking about the torrent I posted here? It is just the image file of RetroPie and I included Win32DiskManager as well. No roms or anything like that.

                                Hi,

Would it be much asking a torrent for the Pi Zero and Pi 1 versions? The file download will get corrupted every time... It's been like that for a week already...

                                Thank you!

Man my connection is messed up now, it's really annoying. I used to get speeds of 18MB per sec now I only get a couple KB's. Once I solve this I will create a torrent with these installers.

It would be better if the mods simply added my torrent file to the download page.

@PetroRie Thank you, mate! Take your time, no rush. It is appreciated! :) Current hosting does not seem to provide a decent download speed... at all. Thank you again!

@derebo I just created the new torrent file:

                                      http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=16475976792562576515

I think I'm going to make a separate topic for this and will update the page with every new release. If there is something that I really hate it's slow internet lol

                                      EDIT: I decided to start an official topic with the Torrent download;

                                      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/4400/torrent-download-retropie

From now on please post on that page if you have any questions. If there is a new version I will create the torrent and upload it here on this board.
