Setting ROM region for lr-mame2003
-
Hello - I was reading up on some of the games and they say things like “shows a different title when the region is set to US.”
I tested the game, and it showed the name used in regions outside the US. Is there a way to configure it to show the US title?
I am using a raspberry pi 4, and am using the 0.78 ROMs with the default retropie installs and emulator.
Thank you!

You forgot to mention which game are you trying to run. Some games have different ROMsets for each region, other may have this option available in the Service menu or via a Dip Switch (see https://docs.libretro.com/library/mame_2003/#service-menu).

@mitu thank you. That is exactly what I failed to find earlier. I will try it out this weekend.
I was specifically looking at puzzle bobble / bust-a-move.

@jigidyjim puzzle bobble / bust a move is a NEO GEO game. You need to change the bios or use uni bios. All the bios are usually in the neogeo.zip bios file and you should be able to select each on. I believe europe is the default bios. I know you can change it in FBNEO but not sure about MAME 2003

There are several versions of Puzzle Bobble some run on the Taito F3 hardware and some on the NeoGeo platform depending on
what device your using, you'll likely get better performance using the NeoGeo sets on an Rpi.But to answer your original question with some games you can configure the regions via the dip switch options however with
other games that's not possible and you'll need to seek out a USA version romset should one be available and supported
in MAME78. -
Thanks for all your help everyone. This has helped me learn a lot!
It looks like maybe I could mess with mame.ini if I want to try to configure this, though I haven’t quite yet determined if that works for lr-mame2003.
Anyway, seems like maybe the right way to play this particular game is with a different emulator anyway!
Thanks.
