Static USB assignments?

Is there a way to make the Pi assign USB controllers a static address?
I have a 4-player setup along with a USB trackball. This necessitates a USB hub. If I plug all 4 joystick/button USB controllers into the hub, it randomly assigns them as #s 1-4 upon each startup. Hence, I have to plug 3 of them into the Pi, then the USB hub into the 4th usb port on the pi, and plug the 4th controller into the hub. This way, they keep a static assignment. Problem is, I need a 5th and 6th usb controller, and have nowhere to plug them in where they won't be confused w/ controller #4. Any way to make the assignments static, or another hardware fix around this issue?

Are they the same controller type as the 4th controller ? If not, you may be able to use the joystick selection script to order them.

@mitu Yeah, unfortunately even though they are physically different PCBs, they detect as the same type (Generic Dragonrise USB Controller)
