Could be this used for be implemented in retropie?
-
It might actually work but like you said, it depends on the Mods you're trying to play, since Openbor gets changes on a very regular basis. Would be great to get the latest version of Openbor running on retropie, that might be main issue about this.

The "rofl0r" version of openbor (the one retropie uses) is an old fork of the main source, and is incompatible with most gamepaks. I'm sill hoping for someone to take the official source code (snv checkout http://svn.code.sf.net/p/openbor/engine/) and get it to run on retropie.

I have compiled the latest code, but have not got round to testing it yet.

I tried out http://www.chronocrash.com/forum/index.php?topic=3031.msg40790#msg40790 and it seems to work ok.

:OOO I love you man!
-
@BuZz That's great news!!! Thank you for digging into this.
-
Thank you @BuZz ! I will try this when I get home!
-
I haven't updated openbor yet - so there is nothing to try currently.
-
Oh...okay lol
Well @BuZz if you need someone to test it, I've got more than one man really needs worth of OpenBOR games :) -
I'm very very interested too! :D

Count me in.

Over at the OpenBOR forums I found download links for most PAK files/games, many of which that have been fixed/updated to run in newer versions of OpenBOR. But you have to download split files, rename the extensions, extract those to get a single 7zip file and then extract again to get the PAK file. It was a huge pain.

Most of these are recommended for version 3979, which is used in the Android port. If we compile a newer version for the Pi, 3979 might be a good target. And using the Android port as a base (already compiles on similiar ARM chips, uses SDL, etc.) might make sense.
You could compile the latest and greatest, but fewer games might work oddly enough.
I'm going to go through the entire library of games I downloaded and see which ones work on the latest version, and which ones work on 3979. Then we might be able to put together a collection easily downloaded via torrent of OpenBOR games to play on an updated RetroPi build.
