Shortcuts from other roms folders to the normal roms folder.

Hi,
I'm facing an small problem that is not necessarily important, it is just a detail... I have no idea if it is even possible to do but I'll go straight into the point.I have several Dreamcast games, almost all of them in ".CDI" format so that they can be better organized within RetroPie's EmulationStation's menu as they are only one file instead of more files with even the same name as it happens with games in ".GDI" format (disc.GDI/track01.ISO/track.02.RAW/etc.). I prefer them so that I don't have to create subfolders with the name of the game and put the game inside.
Sometimes you just can't avoid using GDI games, you can only have one game in that format so it doesn't conflict with other GDI games (So that any important file doesn't get overwritten).
Knowing all of that, the question I have is the following one:
Is there is a way to do "shortcuts" like the ones in Windows but in the RetroPie's folder structure so that I can put the GDI games in their separated folders and then point that GDI files to the "dreamcast" ROMs folder and make the "shortcuts" visible to EmulationStation as a game?I don't even know if what I'm asking for is possible to do or not... I hope it is and that it is easy to do as I'm clearly not an expert in this kind of things, I just want my DIY Arcade Machine project to be the best It can be...
I'll appreciate all the help. Sorry for the Bible I just wrote 😅 (I wanted to make it all clear from the start).
Thanks in advance and greetings! -
I’d suggest compressing all the GDI files to CHD files. Then you only have one file per game which keeps the folder tidy and lr-flycast & Reicast can read CHD files just fine. Plus they take up less space too. Win win.

@gomineko Hi, and thank you for your quick reply!
Ok, I knew nothing about the CHD files.
This is very convenient as the games really take up less space and it works with redream, I was worried about redream not being able to recognize the CHD files but it actually does.
Now I can have even more games.I was forced to find a solution to this problem since I'm playing around with some Atomiswave ports to the Dreamcast, and the vast majority of them are in GDI.
Thanks to this I can have a better organized library of games and with even more games!
Thank you so much for the help! I'm very grateful.
