Xbox Core Bluetooth Controller, RetroPie 4.7.1, Pi 4 - not working
-
Hi everyone.
I have an Xbox Core Bluetooth controller that I use for Apple Arcade and would like to use it for my RetroPie setup but am having some issues.
Pi Model: Pi 4, 8GB
Power Supply used: From this CanaKit.
RetroPie Version Used: retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400.img
Built From: balenaEtcher on Windows 10
USB Devices connected: Microsoft Wireless Keyboard + MouseSteps:
- Boot up first time
- Configure keyboard
- Follow this guide to disable ERTM:
- I verify no devices are connected.
- I get all the way to selecting the Xbox Controller that it discovered.
- I do NOT get the "Successfully registered and connected to <device ID>" dialogue.
- I do NOT get an error message of any kind.
- I simply get dumped back into the "Configure Bluetooth Devices" screen.
- But it does show up in the "Registered Devices" page, identified as "Xbox Wireless Controller 4416".
- Despite that, the controller is still blinking.
However, when I go to Configure Input, there are no gamepads detected.
I've rebuilt the device 2x from scratch, same results.
UPDATE: I tried the "Connect now to all registered devices" option and after a couple seconds this error message flashed (very quickly) on the screen:
/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/bluetooth.sh: line 329: Connecting: command not found
At a loss here. Appreciate any further help?
Cheers!

There's an Xbox specific driver (
xpadneo
) that might help connecting your controller. Try installing the driver first from the RetroPie drivers section. -
@mitu, greatly appreciate the reply and option. Thank-you!
It's probably a little over my head, but I'll dig in a bit.
