Screen glitches using Emulation Station
-
Hi, the other day I started getting these strong distinctive screen glitches when using Emulation Station and running emulated games.
This is the latest Retropie on a almost fresh Raspbian Buster SD card on a RPi4b.
It suddenly appeared and I didn't have it before a few days ago.
There's no glitching at all durin boot up. No glitching on CLI.
And no glitching on the Raspbian pixel desktop. But every time I start Emulation Station this begins.
I'm running this on a screen taken from an old laptop to which I added a separate controller board.
But it seems connected to Emu station somehow.
Does anyone recognize this?Cheers

Does Emu station have a resolution setting somewhere?
I just tested hooking this up to a regular HD monitor and at the exact place/time that I got the glitching the screen just turns black instead.
The boot up until then displays fine.So I'm wondering if there's some resolution or refresh Hz setting that has gone awry?
Cheers

You can start it with the
--resolution
parameter, but that won't make much of a difference on a RPI, since the driver wouldn't change the screen resolution to match. You can change the resolution of the screen fromconfig.txt
(to 720p) and see if that makes a difference. -
So RetroPie/EmuStation runs at whatever resolution is being suggested by the hdmi connection?
As its working fine at HD when I start the desktop instead.
Does emustation use a different graphics driver than the desktop?EDIT: Ok - So its the actual raspberry pi board that is somehow at fault. Iv'e crosschecked the sd card with another pi4 I had and with the suspected monitor and it's definitely the first rpi.
