Where should we post this issue? Pull request in the psx-rearmed GitHub project? Is it possible it is fixed but just not getting grabbed in the RetroPie setup script? I tried updating from the source and it still didn't fix it.

Googled if there was a setting to change the retro arch config file and not dice there either.

@SOSretro could you please log this issue here - https://github.com/libretro/pcsx_rearmed/issues

        it sounds like

        1. there should be a core option to turn rumble on/off, especially if it causes problems. otherwise you can't use analog mode.
        2. the lagging whilst rumbling should be fixed. maybe @alexis-puska can help? :)

I don't have a PS3 controller for the moment... i can't test, i will look in few day to get someone of my friend have a ps3 to make some Test. i'm not the last dev on the controller features. when i have developed this features, i test with a ps3 controller, i don't see any stuttering. What kind of stuttering have you ? display stuttering ? stuttering in the movement of the player ?
Did you used your PS3 controller with USB or bluetooth ? Did you have installed the driver for PS3 controller ?

@alexis-puska Thanks for the reply! I'm using Bluetooth with the PS3 controller. The whole game stutters with the lag. It's most apparent on games with a lot of movement like crash team racing or cool boarders. There were some moments in CTR where the screen would freeze for a second or two, others times just momentary. I'm pretty sure I used the PS3 driver when I first set them up, however I'm going to double check to be sure.

I have recorded a video showing the issue. I did it with Medievil cause its rumbles while you are running and you can see it better. I have enhacement graphic active, but i tested having it disabled and do the same thing. Sorry about bad quality :P

@alexis-puska i have retropie 4.0.1 and i cannot get rumble to work at all on a ps3, ps2 and ps1 controller. Before my old card died i was on 4.0 beta 2 and also updated retropie-setup to rc1 and downloaded lr-pcsx-rearmed and could not get rumble to work on those either.

@alexis-puska i have the issue without the enhanced setting. I checked and I didn't have the PS3 driver installed, I tried installing it and had the same issue. I had a previous backup on 3.8 and after restoring it didn't show the issue. Appreciate your help!

I also have the issue with stuttering when rumble occurs, basically I would just use standard mode as I used to get stuttering on analog. Never realized it was the rumble but now that makes sense. Now something has changed that even when using standard I get the stutter.

Any idea when this will be fixed? I saw the update that seems to fix it list as merged (https://github.com/libretro/pcsx_rearmed/pull/51) , but I ran an update on lr-pcsx-rearmed via both binary and source but still have the problem.

                      Thanks

Is there a solution to this problem yet?
I am now having the problem even when analog is disabled. The only way I can stop the stuttering now is to go into the option menu in the game and disable vibration.

I'm having exactly the same issue on fresh install of RetroPie 4 using a bluetooth dongle with a PS3 controller. Crash Team Racing is best example rumble in game on and its lagging and has 1 sec lock ups when hitting water (biggish rumble) and if I go into the game options and disable rumble it's flawless and fast, zero lockups.

@prosthetichead It seems like this is only effecting people using ps3 controllers.
Like you said the only way to solve this problem is to turn off vibration within the game menu.

Can confirm, also using a PS3 controller via bluetooth. This is specially present in games like Gran Turismo 2, where the controller is vibrating almost all the time. There's a small stutter for every little vibration.

I posted a pull request a while back, but it has had little movement (from what I can tell). Added a comment about this thread to show there were a number of users having the same problem.

@SOSretro Doesn't look like they've given it any attention. Maybe I'll have to create an account and comment. More comments = more attention?

I just submitted a PR for this. Hopefully it'll be approved in the coming days and then, if you update lr-pcsx-rearmed, you'll be able to disable vibration as a Core Option.
