Using analog control in MAME

Hi all
Im using a RPI4 with a PS3 controller which is seen fine in Retropie but when I play a game such as 10 Yard Fight, it only uses the Dpad.
Any tips on how to set it up so i can use the left analog tick please.

@marty 10yard is a game only using digital controls, so it makes sense for analog stick to do nothing by default, you can probably add the analog stick as an alternative for the dpad by remapping though the MAME OSD. Another solution might be to change emulator, i believe mame2003plus has a core option to force up/down/left/right on either the dpad or the left analog stick, and in the case of FBNeo directions are mapped to both dpad and left analog stick whenever it's possible.
