Pi4 - Help me to configure Retroarch....
-
I'm new here....... but this is not the first time i put my hands over a Retropie configuration.
Finally i'm buy my personal Raspberry Pi4 4GB and yesterday i have setted up the official weekly image 4.7.7.
Apparently i have setted all correctly like wifi and other little things but i need some help to configure Retroarch.
It's about 3 o 4 hours i try to set but i ever obtain "No core"......On my Pi4 i have attached a USB Pendrive... this pendrive contain a folder "retropie-mount" and it's contain a little of .GB and .NES on respective subfolder and all roms it's divided in alphabetical order in all subfolder structure call "A"..."B"...."C" etc etc.
On Retropie apparently all subfolder it's be founded whitout any issue..... but on retroarch i don't have idea how i can configure it.
I have launch it from Retropie menu......... and it's say "1.8.8 - No Core".
How it's works ? How i need to configure ?I see on configuration folders.... Core it's be suppose to be in this path:
/home/pi/.config/retroarch/coreIt's right ? I have reach this folder from my pc using SFTP or SSH and it's empty........ it's normal ?

You don't need to configure anything in RetroArch, RetroPie already configures it and has already installed libretro emulation cores.
Just start the game from EmulationStation directly and RetroArch will start with the correct libretro core for the system you're in (
nes
orgb

Ah ok... but from Retropie i can also open the quickmenu and for example search for Cheat ?
I use this feature on retroarch port for wii......... i can also using if i launch a GB files directly from ES ?EDIT
Found Myself!!Press the HOME BUTTON + Y on my Xbox 360 controller and it's be open the quick menu of Retroarch whit a GB games!!!
Yeah!
Now i can know how i need to do....... now let's try to add a screenshot from GB and NES files :) -

Yes, RetroPie automatically configures the hotkeys for RetroArch, so you open the menu, save/load/reset/exit. See https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Controller-Configuration/#hotkey.

Sorry for double question..... i don't know if it's correct i can made this question here:
You can suggest some suggestion about the "firmware" of my Raspberry ?
I have reach some "guide" over internet... like this:
https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/322/how-can-i-determine-the-current-firmware-version-numberIt's say to check the firmware version and check if the same on Raspbian release note....
I try to check my and i obtain this:
pi@retropie:~ $ sudo /opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd version Jan 27 2021 22:19:57 Copyright (c) 2012 Broadcom version 99d9a48302e4553cff3688692bb7e9ac760a03fa (clean) (release) (start)
After that on raspbian release note:
https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/release_notes.txtThere's report a different number... it's my Raspberry not updated ?
Instead here there's present another guide:
https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2019/upgrade-raspberry-pi-4s-firmware-bootloader-better-thermalsBy SSH i obtain this:
pi@retropie:~ $ sudo rpi-eeprom-update BCM2711 detected Dedicated VL805 EEPROM detected BOOTLOADER: up-to-date CURRENT: Thu 3 Sep 12:11:43 UTC 2020 (1599135103) LATEST: Thu 3 Sep 12:11:43 UTC 2020 (1599135103) FW DIR: /lib/firmware/raspberrypi/bootloader/default VL805: up-to-date CURRENT: 000138a1 LATEST: 000138a1
How i can check and if i need to update my firmware ?

Your firmware is from Jan 27 2021, so it's recent enough. Bootloader is also updated to the latest 'stable' version (Sep last year), so it's up to date.
Your installation is up-to-date, you can periodically check for updates from RetroPie-Setup and install the latest updates, it is enough to be up-to-date.

mmmmmm... slowly i begin to understand better how all works :)
