Wired Controller Turns Off After Few Minutes Idle
-
So I have a small rp4 powered arcade machine and for controls I have a customized fight stick using a Brooks Universal Fighting Board connected via USB to the Pi. My issue is that I want it to stay on all the time, since it's wired in, but after a few minutes of being idle it automatically shuts off. I don't have a map for the XBOX/PS/HOME button, so my only way of turning it back on is opening up the case and unplugging the controller and plugging it back in, or restarting the machine. I've tried updating the firmware, and using different USB ports, and still have the same issue.
Any advice?

@mitu Sorry about that! Thought there were enough details in the description.

Power Supply used: Official Pi4 USB-C Supply
RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: Pre made img.gz SD card Image on RetroPie website

Attachment of config files: N/A
How to replicate the problem: Leave controller connected without any input for about 5 minutes. -
Haven't encountered so far this kind of issue - could be that the controller is powering off by itself when idle ? The Pi doesn't power off the USB ports automatically and if you're using the official USB-C power supply, then a power issue is not likely to happen.
How much power does the UFB draw ?Try adding
over_voltage=2
to
/boot/config.txt
(then reboot) and see if helps. -
@mitu Good call! I'm not sure how much power it's pulling, but setting over_voltage to 2 definitely makes it last longer, though not completely staying on all the time. Trying with setting it to 3 right now and that seems to be going strong!
