      Hello everyone!

      Sorry if this has been asked before... I did a search but it was brief... I have a Pi3 (B i think...) It has been a while since I used it. I recently got back into retro gaming and started with updates. 18 hours later it is still updating. Am I stuck in a loop? Is this normal? There is a continuous scroll of information on the monitor so it doesn't LOOK stuck, but I don't remember updates taking this long. I followed the directions from here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/.

      I don't have the specs or anything at this time as my RetroPie has been updating for so long...

      Thanks for any help you can give me!

        when you say

        what specifically did you follow? there are many instructions. for example, if you updated all packages from source, a long time is expected

          @dankcushions Thanks... That sounds like what I did... How long are we thinking here? Many days? Do I just need to hold on and enjoy the ride?

            @dankcushions Nevermind... I just read the link you gave me... "Updating from source downloads the latest source code, and builds the binary directly on your system. This takes much longer - hours, even days, depending on the system and package(s). It is suggested only if you require a specific fix that is not available as a binary." --- Many days it is then! Thanks for the update. At least I know now that it isn't stuck in some weird loop.

              @sirpigpin ctrl+c on a keyboard will cancel. it could take several days. personally i would ctrl+c and update via binary instead.

                @dankcushions that won't damage anything? I am in no rush so I can wait... I don't want to end up with corrupted files or something.

                    @dankcushions It finished while I was at work. Any other updates I should do?!?!
                    I will remember for next time though... Binary, not source...
