New Hypseus and lr-Daphne to add on Retropie-Setup

Ok , nevermind, deleting folder did it
Good deal. I was prepping a list of possibilities. Sounds like you're close now. Fingers crossed.
-
@roslof Spoke too soon. Tried multiple times. Trying
ln -s ../timegal.daphne timegal
ln: failed to create symbolic link 'timegal': Operation not permitted

- Is this on an external drive? FAT32 partition?
- Permissions of folders correct?
- Are you performing this from within daphne/singe?
-
- Yes, fat32 usb stick.
- I haven't messed with permissions. Is 755 fine?
- Yes.
pi@retropie:~/RetroPie/roms/daphne/singe $ ln -s ../timegal.daphne timegal ln: failed to create symbolic link 'timegal': Operation not permitted pi@retropie:~/RetroPie/roms/daphne/singe $

@darksavior I'm fairly certain you can't create symlinks on FAT32. There is a thread here:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/19433/symbolic-link-operation-prohibited
-
@roslof Oh ok I can give up now. Not formatting my drive to ext for like two singe games. Ah well..

Correct, you cannot create symlinks on FAT32. The filesystem doesn't support it.
You can however, duplicate the data, i.e. copy
timegal.daphne
astimegal
into thesinge
folder.Yes is doubling the amount of disk space, but I presume you have the same issue with
lair
anddle21
orace
andsae
which use the same data for different versions of Dragons Lair/Space Ace ?You could also save space by linking them:
ln -s lair.daphne dle21.daphne
We are down to individual user cases now.
There is a way around it but wasteful on disk space.
-
@dirtbagxon I'll test that out a bit later.
No, I do not have that issue with dragon's lair or space ace. I have only one folder for each game calleddle21.daphne
andsae.daphne
-

You could also save space by linking them:
ln -s lair dle21Daphne games can be handled by having one main directory for everything (lair.daphne) and a separate folder called dle21.daphne that contains a sole, lonely framefile named dle21.txt and whose first line points to ../lair.daphne

If it's for just two games......
But I would always use
ext
filesystems ;) -

Aha, by editing the frame file! - You could also try that..... But Singe games have more than just video/audio files referenced in the framefile, they have the
.singe
file which references all the other bits and pieces. -

singe
- Put all files in there to start with, when that works try taking out the large video files etc, and see what it needs. The errors were only complaining about the peripheral files, I THINK it still read the video/audio from the
timegal.daphne
directory due to the framefile.... -
I'm thinking this might work:
roms (EXT linux filesystem) |-- daphne | | | |-- timegal.daphne | | | | | |-- timegal.commands (Optional) | | |-- timegal.txt | | |-- timegal.m2v | | |-- timegal.ogg | | |-- timegal.singe | | |-- *.* | | | +-- singe | +-- timegal <<- link (ln -s ../timegal.daphne timegal)
roms (FAT32 filesystem) |-- daphne | | | |-- timegal.daphne | | | | | |-- timegal.commands (Optional) | | |-- timegal.txt | | |-- timegal.m2v | | |-- timegal.ogg | | |-- timegal.singe | | | +-- singe | |-- timegal | |-- *.* <<- All other files except m2v, ogg, singe and framefile
Of course in FAT32 scenario you can also have the
*.*
files in both places for simplicity and archival purposes. -
@dirtbagxon Still not loading. It's going back to the errors about reading the wav files. I re-transferred those files but didn't change the situation.

Some thing weird going on there, can you show us how your drive layout looks, maybe via a screenshot on Windows explorer as a remote mount ?

I have just confirmed this works, deleted my symlink, created a directory and copied the below files in there:

@dirtbagxon All fixed! It was on my end. Looks like the archive utility app that comes with my mac is a real pile of garbage and was not extracting files correctly. Tried another and that did the trick. It's all good! Now I can goto sleep.
-
-
@dirtbagxon Is it normal for these long load times? Both Time Gal and Ninja Hayate have around 1min 20sec of load time when it first starts and when you die its at least 35 seconds of waiting. I only have these two singe games and it happens with both.
Dragons Lair 2 is jittery. Dragons lair 1 and Space Ace seem to be fine. It's not jittery with daphne. I'm using the dex77 rips if it matters.
