I can't exit Atari 2600 games
-
I can play ATARI2600 games fine but no matter what buttons I press I can't exit back to the RETROPIE main menu. All I can do it reset or change the skill levels in game.

Please add some more details about your setup as, detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
What emulator are you using for Atari2600 ?

Emulator? A little confused. I just stuck the ROMS in the ATARI 2600 folder and loaded from there.

@colstar When you start your game, a little menu pops up saying 'Launching...'
It states the name of the file you're launching and in parentheses the name of the emulator you're using to launch the file.

Ah thanks, will take a look next time. :)

@colstar if it passes too quickly... hit a button as it's loading and allow it to enter the emulator choice menu. You can see the emulator load choice as well.
Best emulator type to use are the Libretro based emulators. They all are configured out of the box to use "select & start" button press to exit.
-
@jamrom2 All I can see is ir-stella2014, if that means anything(?)
-
@colstar ok, good. You have the best emulator choice, and haven't changed anything.
So what controller are you using. If it has a "start" and "select" button setup, what does it do when you press and hold "Select" then press "Start".
-
@colstar It does. It means you are using the libretro version of stella2014, the atari 2600 emulator. Libretro cores give access to Retroarch functions, which includes pressing hotkeys to quit games. Are you certain you've set up a hotkey?
-
@colstar Also... when you set up the controller in the ES setup, which is required on first start of ES, did you allow for the use of "hotkeys"? By default, it's yes and it will use the keys I mentioned to exit almost all emulators ES is associated with.

This post is deleted! -
@zering Oh not quite sure, will check that out. I'm using a 360 controller.
-
@colstar you might to reconfigure the controller via the ES menu, then select the hotkey. It should work then
