Spy Hunter Controls

The rom loads fine, I can add credits, start the game and even fire but I can't seem to accelerate or move left and right. Does this need some special input devices to be able to play it properly?
-
@colstar sure, SpyHunter is only playable with a Densha-de-Go-Controller from Taito, and it works only at full moon.
Sorry, just kidding :D
You should have a look in the input settings of the game (which emulator?), maybe it is preconfigured for shoulder buttons and analog stick (which controller are you using?). -
@sirhenrythe5th Oh yes sorry, I'm using an X-Box Controller.
-
@colstar is it for MAME? What system. Spy Hunter was ported to almost every known system from Atari to NES.
If it's for MAME, press "tab" on your keyboard and you can configure the controllers how you want them via the option in that menu. It's intuitive so you should be fine once you see what I mean.
If it's for something else... You need to post more info.
Be warned... The controls for Spy Hunter are very sensitive when using a standard controller. You crash...a lot

@jamrom2 Thanks, I did have a look but had no success unfortunately.

@colstar you are probably re-enacting the exact same issue you had with outrun : the game, as almost all arcade racing games, is expecting analog controls but somehow the emulator you are currently using isn't handling this properly with your current settings.

With lr-fbneo, set analog speed to 100% for accelerator to function

Is that so ? It sounds like a bug, i'll have to take a look
Edit : hmmmm no, the accelerator is still working for me if i set analog speed to 50%, it'll be less powerful (you can see the max will become 0x12 instead of 0x28 in the game's service menu) but that's to be expected.

I haven't tried it using FBneo so maybe I'll do that. Failing that I'll just get hold of the NES version I guess.
