    Hello everyone,

    I've been playing around with some old Chromebooks that we are decommissioning and figured what a great machine to do some emulation. Had some great success with Braswell chipsets and it worked great. I am trying this out on a Baytrail chipset (HP CB G3) and audio during emulation is very choppy/garbled. Tried several things I came across the forum here and others regarding pulseaudio but noting seems to resolve it (making changes to the default.pa file, restarting services, adjusting frequencies, making changes to alsa & pulseaudio etc).

    I tried some of the suggestions posted here but did not resolve the issue:
    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/22119/audio-lag-retropie-x86/2

    What I did find is that as soon as the machine was plugged into and HDMI port, audio played back normal on the internal chrombook speakers. As soon as the HDMI source changed, sound reverted back to gabled on the internal speakers. On other my other working chromebook config looks like this:

    <string name="AudioCard" value="default" />
    <string name="AudioDevice" value="Master" />
    <string name="OMXAudioDev" value="both" />

    I played around with some of the audio OMXAudioDev settings and didnt have much luck either. Has anyone else come across this issue? Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

      Run xrandr to make sure you are not running at a low refresh rate (i.e. 30hz). Choppy audio is usually a symptom.

      # xrandr
      Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767

        @johnodon - THAT DID IT!!! Omg dude thank you! I've been loosing my mind with this. So it ends up there are two resolutions this thing picks up. It defaults to 1366x768 that has two refresh rates 60Hz and 40Hz. The next one is 1360x768 and runs at 60 - 59Hz. Switched it to that and magically it just worked. Cant believe it was something that simple. Canτ thank you enough!

          Been there. :D More often than not, 4K TVs are the culprit.
