Lightgun support added to PCSX-Rearmed
-
I belive I found someone who is interested in helping out this light gun community
By willing to make a PS1 Crosshair Graphics output for the pcsx-rearmed
Not sure what to do now , he needs answers to questions that only mr LightGun could provide answer to , ... I emailed Mr LightGun and and haven't heard back from yet , but one of these days he will get around to messaging me I'm sure , but this is amazing news and potential hope for playing PS1 games with a Crosshair :) .... I'm excited

@escc1986 I ordered a Sinden Lightgun with recoil, in the meantime I play with an airmouse with mame2003 and Dreamcast with crosshair in the screen. Very funny.
But, any news for PCSX-rearmed crosshair?

Thank you for posting this, I had actually created a topic earlier about POV shooter/light gun games and deleted it as soon as I saw this one. Anyway, I guess I'm late to the game, but has anyone had any success getting some of these games to work?
Mainly just ask because I'm brand new to the Pi world, just got a Pi4 recently and am still in the process of researching different emulators (ideally for some arcade/MAME games) and gauging the difficulty of getting some of these games to work, since I don't consider myself particularly computer savvy. So I already understand that configuring MAME games is gonna be tricky, and these shooter ones probably even more so...
Speaking of console shooters, I DO remember trying to plug in my old SNES/Super Scope to my flatscreen to play its light gun games like Battle Clash 1 & 2 (what can I say, I love sci-fi & giant robots), but through my lack of success was lead to understand that the light guns were mainly designed for old cathode ray/CRTVs. So, if any fixes have gotten around this hardware/tech issue, I'm very curious.
I've managed to play some basic POV shooter games before on MAME like Operation Wolf (but fortunately with that one, you had an on-screen cursor that you could move around/aim and shoot even if you were using a keyboard/mouse). However I did run into others-- like Beast Busters-- where what you were aiming at WASN'T as clear, and by the time you'd reached the 2nd level or so, the aim was so off/you were basically just shooting off-screen the entire time as to make the game unplayable. Guess it was a configuration issue, but I never managed to figure it out (which is a bummer, because I also dig horror/zombie-type content).
Complicating things further are these modern POV shooters like Area 51, House Of The Dead etc where-- unlike those 2 arcade ones I mentioned-- you had an unmounted, loose pistol setup where you had to point/shoot off screen to reload... so I'd be curious if any light gun peripherals/configurations have solved this issue as well??

@technofox I'm in the exact same spot you are...NES works, MAME works with config mapped for each game, SNES trigger works, but not cursor or turbo button no matter how I remap in the Input config menu.....hotd2 for Naomi/Dreamcast almost works on redream, but I only can move the cursor in the upper-left corner of the screen (it has something to do with the resolution multiplier I believe)....I'm on a Pi4

i use ir-flycast only for HOTD2, Confidential Mission, Death Crimson... redream for others.

@danman how do you have your snes config? I can't get anything to work using snes9x2010 and any light gun game for snes. I have a pi3b+, fresh sd card image from retro pie website, a white wii remote non motion plus and an oem Nintendo light bar that I removed 4 of the leds out of and put a usb type a and on. Works great for nes and most Sega master system games (two sms games don't fully work, can see/move the cross hairs and fire but the cross hairs in the game don't sync with the emulators cross hairs).
I can play most Sega genesis light gun games but can't shoot off screen to reload in the games that use the justifier guns rather than menecer gun and if there is a second trigger on the menecer like technofox talked about above, I don't think that works either.
I have the Wii remote working as a mouse using wminput and setting button b to mouse button 1 and button a to mouse button 2. The res of the Wii remote buttons are mapped to keyboard keys which don't work when in game which sucks to say the least
Anyway I know it's not my equipment because nes works perfect and as I said most of the sms library works perfectly also. So hopefully you can help me out with snes config so i can get somewhere with that. I'll get the name of the two sms games that wouldn't work later today if maybe someone wants to test them and see what they can come up with.

@polygaryd You need to use lr-snes9x to use light gun games, 2010 doesn't support light guns. At least that was the case last time I checked.
-
@g30ff ok I didn't see that as an emulator option. I have to add it to my systems file. I made my own light guns system in retropie and put multiple different system roms in it such as nes, snes, sms, atari 2600, atari 7200, atari xe, dreamcast, ps1, Sega genesis, meme.
So I have a long list of emulators so I must have missed that snes9x emulator. I'll take a look and report back. I now understand that non of the atari emulators support the light gun games.

I added lr-snes9x from the core packages and then into my lightgun system emulator.cfg file. I changed all the snes games to the lr-snes9x and I do have light gun support now. A couple games work but only with the fire button and for games like yoshi safari where you need other buttons obviously its not very playable. Other games like tinstar are not only are not synced up with the cross hairs but won't get past the test fire screen. T2 arcade, Lamborghini challenge, and xzone seem to work fine. I never had a superscope with a real snes console so I'm not sure if I'd need the other buttons later in the game.
Also the two Sega master system games That don't work with the light gun (fire button works and retroarch crosshair moves but won't sync with in game crosshair are assault city and lazer ghost.
We need a way to implement key mapping to the mouse button 2 and 3(click wheel) for alternate trigger buttons for menecer and superscope. Mouse button 1 is fire button by default and works in every game. And of course fix the sync issues in the few games that don't work to sync patriarch crosshair with in game crosshair. Then this would be amazing.

@polygaryd If you're using the Sinden lightgun, you can map the extra buttons on it to additional lightgun inputs for use in games like Yoshi's Safari. The Sinden wiki has information about how to configure these inputs. The steps would likely be the same for other lightguns, as long as they have enough buttons to map.
-
@g30ff I'm using a wii remote and wminput with button b mapped to mouse left and button a mapped to mouse right. I can't seem to get the right mouse button to map to any of the aux trigger buttons. In sure the developers could add this functionality in or make it work properly for the wii remote as mouse setup, since the sinden light gun can do it.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but anyone already test wiimote for two players ???
I’ cant set the 2nd players enable with wiimote and mayflash bar.
Mode 2 only 1 players connected , mode 4 cannot detected both wiimote.
Any ideas ?
Thanks -
How can I ask the devs of the emulators to help with this light Gun trigger mapping functionality?
