Made a mistake building a Pi Zero inside a USB NES controller.

I am not very electronics savvy and so I cut the cord off the USB controller and soldered from PCB of the NES controller direct to bottom pads of the USB port on the Pi0.

Everything worked and I was very excited. I recently installed RetroPi and was about ready to configure when I learned that the USB port with OTG cable no longer works b/c I had soldered directly to the USB ports.

I was thinking this about installing Ubuntu on a separate system and using the mSD card with the RetroPi image on it and manually loading & configure this way.

Will this work, is there a different way to attack this? Any help would be appreciated.

Just in case anyone is reading this thread I figure I should say that I was able to mount the RP mSD card in Ubuntu and copy roms over manually. Now to figure out how to get the scraped data over as well.
