Help with Dreamcast Roms please
-
Hi. Running a R4 with my own Retropie build. A majority of my Dreamcast roms are .chd or .cdi and they work just fine.
I also have some Dreamcast roms stored in .rar format that have numbered extensions. kalkof99.001, 002 etc. I've tried the following scenarios and none of them work, even though they show up in Emulation Station.
- Copied the .rar into the dreamcast folder
- Unarchived the files and put the raw files in the dreamcast folder
- Created an .iso of the unarchived files
- Created a .zip of the unarchived files
My question is, what do I do with rom directories with numbered roms in the folder to make them usable?
Thank you.

@drdave79 What game is it supposed to be? Redream supports only .CHD, .GDI, and .CDI images. Flycast supports all of those, and supports MAME format .zip files for Naomi and Atomiswave games. I don't know of any Dreamcast games ever distributed as .RAR files.

@g30ff I was hoping there was a way to convert them to .chd or .cdi. Dino Crisis, Elemental Gimmick Gear, King of Fighters Dream Match 99, Speed Devils just to name a few.

@drdave79 said in Help with Dreamcast Roms please:
kalkof99.001, 002 etc
The kalkof99.001, 002... etc means that the game is many rar parts. With unrar program you have to extract only the file .001, this will automaticaly extract all the parts and one file/folder with the game will be generated.

@windg THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. That was the missing piece of the puzzle. The unpackaging method. I really appreciate the help.

@drdave79 For a minute I thought you were trying to extract a Naomi/Atomiswave rom and ended up with files in that naming scheme. Whoops! Glad you could figure it out.
